Blinded By The Light

It was about ten o'clock at night and Blair was driving home from Law School. She was very tired because it had been a very long day for her. She felt like just dropping her head right on the wheel and falling asleep. All of the sudden she could not take it anymore and her eyes closed. All of the sudden Blair took her mind off of driving the car and before she knew it a light overtook her and the car. Suddenly she heard a loud crash and she felt herself flipping and spinning in the car. She felt an incredible impact as the car slammed into a telephone pole after flipping a number of times.

"Where could she be?! She should have been home hours ago!" Mrs. Garett said as she paced back and forth in the living room of her house. "Mrs. G..I'm sure she is just running late or theres traffic." Jo said as she tried to calm Mrs. Garett down. Tootie was sitting on the couch and she too was beginning to get worried about Blair, but she didn't want to admit it knowing it would get Mrs. Garett even more nervous. Natalie, who was sitting next to Tootie was beginning to get a little nervous as well. All of the sudden the phone rang and Mrs. Garett ran to pick it up. "Hello??" Mrs. Garett said. All of the sudden her face went pale and the girls knew something wasn't wrong. "Oh..oh..oh okay..w-w-we'll be there right away..." She then hung up the phone and looked at the girls. There was a long pause and she then spoke. "There was an accident..." she said. "We need to go to the hospital right away!" She continued. The girls and her got their coats on and they left.

The girls and Mrs. Garett were now in the waiting room of the hospital. Natalie, Tootie, and Mrs. Garett were sitting down waiting for a doctor to come out with news about Blair while Jo was now pacing back and forth, nervously. "I knew something wasn't right!!" Mrs. Garett said. "Mrs. G...calm down!!" Jo said. She knew she wasn't one to talk, because inside she was the most nervous of them all. Suddenly a doctor came out of the waiting room. "Warner?" the doctor said. Mrs. Garett got up. "Right here, doctor!" She said. The doctor then walked towards them. "Well..the accident was extremely life threatening. She is in horrible shape. She has head tramua, and is in acoma. She has a number of broken bones as well." he said. Mrs. Garett and the girls were stunned. The doctor left and Mrs. Garett looked at the girls and then looked at Jo and hugged her, letting out soft tears.

About ten minutes had passed and there was still no more news about Blair. Jo was sitting down in a chair recalling good times she had with Blair. Jo was wondering..what would happen if Blair were to not make it?? How would life be?? She hated to think of it..because Blair was her best friend inside even though sometimes she didn't show it. Jo started getting flashbacks of their graduation from Eastland..when they first met..and when she once got into a car accident before. But it was not as bad as this one.

All of the sudden the doctor came out and gave them word that Blair had woken up from acoma. The girls and Mrs. Garett were in releif, but Blair still was not in good shape. About one hour passed and the doctor said that one at a time they could go and visit Blair in the waiting room. Jo decided that she would go in to visit her first because of how close they were inside.

Jo walked into Blair's room and saw Blair in the bed. Jo gasped and sat down on the bed near Blair. "Hey Blair.." she said, trying to hold in tears. She just couldn't bare to see her in the condition she was in. "How ya feeling?" she said. Blair responded weakly. "Good..." Blair said. "Ya know..I was worried about ya." Jo said. Blair let out a smile. Blair could feel that at the moment they had a special bond. Jo could not stand to see Blair like that anymore. "Well..the others are waiting..so I'll be going. See ya." she quickly left and Mrs. Garett walked in.

"Hi..Blair.." she said. "Mrs. Garett....I'm sorry..." Blair said as she let tears out. "I don't understand how this could happen!" "Blair..it isn't your fault!" Mrs. Garett said. "Yes...it is...I fell asleep at the wheel...it was horrible!!! I thought I was going to die...it was almost as if......I was..blinded..." she said. "Blinded?" Mrs. Garett asked. "Yes...Mrs. Garett. I felt like I was blinded...by the light..." Blair then leaned to hug Mrs. Garett. The two hugged. Blair would be alright but she needed some time in the hospital. "Mrs. Garett...(hugs her) I'm sorry...." The two then embraced in a tight hug and the ending credits came up.
