i'm originally from west london myself. on one end is the rich area such as chelsea and kensington and the poor area in towns around acton, ealing. likewise, i was brought up in the poor part of west london. celebrities who hail from west london include singer lily allen, actor hugh grant to name . there is a kids tv show called blue peter and there is this british born muslim woman connie huq, who presents it and she hails from my hometown of perivale.

Famous People From Welland
Albert Leroy Ellsworth - Founder of the British American Oil Company ( now part of Gulf Oil )
Paul Beeston - Former president of Major League Baseball and former president of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Jerry King - International news correspondant; he has appeared on World News Tonight With Peter Jennings, Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America and other network news programmes
Daniel Paille - Buffalo Sabres Hockey Player (NHL)
Daniel Girardi - New York Rangers Hockey Player (NHL)

Mike Smrek - Former NBA player ( Chicago, Los Angeles, San Antonio & Golden State )
Bill Welychka - News Anchor
Brian Daboll - Assistant coach, New England Patriots
Simon Gatti - Soccer player
Wayne Groulx - Former NHL/Austrian league Hockey player

It took me 2 hours of research to make up this list....Youre probably saying, "Thats the list I saw on Wikipedia", well, it is, I wrote the list, and submitted it to Wiki! :D ( Except Daniel Paille...that was already there, and Simon Gatti whom ive never heard of )

While not all the names would be household words ( unless youre a real avid hockey fan ), you have to admit having one of the creators of trivial Pursuits and a man who founded an international oil company is pretty impressive for a city of just 50,000, not to mention Paul Beeston, on the baseball side, and Mike Smrek for basketball! :)

interesting that you're based in the north of england, whilst i am from the south. what's the weather like right now in stoke-on trent because here in london it varies from being dry but not sunny, to damp and wet.

also, that guy nick hancock who used to present they think it's all over on bbc1 is from stoke
