I remember a show that was on in the late '70's and/or early '80's, I think the show was on PBS, and part of the theme song said "footsteps to follow, footsteps to make". What the heck show was this? I have wondered for probably 25 years now!

Can you give any kind of description of the show? that would be more helpful than part of an obscure theme song.

You're right, Gwendy. There was a show in 1979 on PBS called "Footsteps." It had the cute song you described and was about parenting and families. I watched it for a college course I took. Some of the narrators/hosts were Rob Reiner, Penny Marshall and Mike Farrell. I loved that show! :)

Thank you so much Madame X!! Now I finally know what that show was. It must have came on Tv right after or right before Sesame Street, because I was only 4 in 1979. But I have always remembered that theme song.
Now if I could only find the theme song somewhere on the internet, to listen to it.
