Our cat Foxy's name came about because he was a white Persian with little streaks of silver throughout. I said that he looked like a silver fox, and my sister suggested Foxy. That was back in 1989. I can't imagine him with any other name.

Our cat Lily is what they call a Lilac Point Persian. She has deep lilac colored markings at her 'points' (face, ears, paws, tail). We bought her at a pet store. While the girl was handling our transaction. I said through the cage, "And what shall we call you?". The clerk said, "How about Lily because of the lilac points?" It made sense to me.

Our other cat Caesar is because we were watching the HBO series, Rome, at the time, and we liked the sound of the name. Now I just love their names.

Well, I named by bird Bocephus, after the country singer Hank Williams Jr because my bird has a lot of additude and he sings a lot, so I figured that would suit him well.
My dogs name is Gracie Lee, When we got her, her name was already Gracie, and we just added Lee on the end of it. I don't know where it came from. It just sounded like a name that a sophisticated, southern belle would have, and that's EXACTLY what she is!

My dad promised me I could get a kitten when we move, so I'm going to name it Farley after Chris Farley. :)

I named my Great Dane Sargent...because he's big, loud and very protective. The name just seemed to fit.

Our little Maltese is named Chloe it was originally Molly but after a day or two she just seemed like a Chloe to us.

Our parrot is CheechO. That was his name when we bought him and he says "Hello, I'm CheechO." So we just left it at that lol.

Well, my one cat Tyson was named that because he got in to a pack of Tyson chicken we left on the counter and ended up being deathly ill for a few days. He pulled through, so we named him Tyson because he pwned that Tyson chicken's ass. For the longest time we just called him 'Black Cat'

I don't know why we named our other cat Brody. I think my brother named him after some singer he likes or something.

Our dog Scout was named that because it sounded like a good outdoorsey name and my Dad liked it.

We named our cat Angel because we thought she was really cute and looked like an Angel. Turns out we should have waited a little longer on naming her because naming her Angel was like naming a big dog tiny, LOL. She is definitely no Angel, haha. Now her name is ironic.

My cat Puzzle, that I had for 10 years that died about 7 or 8 years ago, had a beautiful fur pattern. He was grey with black stripes and a yellow belly. On his back it looked like a puzzle. So I called him "Puzzle". My dog Rex is a Boston Terrier and I just thought "Rex" was a cool name for a dog. :D

That's funny. My mother had a cat named Angel too. She loved anything to do with angels. We all bought her angel figurines, pins, calendars, etc.

Our family pets have always been cats - girl cats (hence my screen name). Our first cat was a stray who showed up on our back steps one snowy night. She was brown and tiger-striped, so I just started calling her Brownie, which stuck. Sadly, less than three years later, Brownie was hit by a car and that was that. :( Then we got a silver tabby, Manny, from the pound. I think she was probably named after then-Indians (now Red Sox-:angryfire-sorry Janice) slugger Manny Ramirez. That was already her name when we got her.

Next was Jasmine, also brown-tiger striped. My sister named her, and I think she just liked the name and for no other real reason. Manny passed, so we got another cat soon after - a big all-black cat named Maya. Maya was her name at the pound. She was a grumpy but mostly well behaved cat, and she purred whenever I brushed her fur. Then we got Molly. Molly was chosen at the pet shop by my sister and her fiance, about a year before their wedding. My sister was living with us before the wedding, so the new cat stayed too. Jeremy (my now brother-in-law) liked the name Molly so he gave it to this firecracker of a kitten. However, long before the wedding took place, it became obvious that Molly was a cat who needed to be with other cats, and loved Jazz and Maya. The apartment my sister was going to be moving into only allowed one cat, so they decided to get another cat after the wedding, which they did.

Sadly, Maya passed on, and several months later we got a new all-black cat. Her name was Lucky, the name she had at the pound.

So now we share the place with three cats: Jasmine, Molly and Lucky. I love all three dearly. :D

We used to have a white bird dog setter and he had black around his eyes and we named him Bandit because he looked like the dog on Johnny Quest. He died in the early 90's.

I had a black rabbit, so his name was Snowball.
I had a red guinea pig I got for Christmas, so I named him Santa.

I had a hedgehog and I gave him my boyfriend of the time's middle name (Forrest). When we broke up, I got a Boston Terrier, and since I didn't want the hedgehog named after my ex anymore, I named the Boston Jenny so it just looked like I liked Forrest Gump.

My Border Collie was born during the big production at my school. My favorite piece during that show was called "Tango," so that's what I named my Border. When I bought her a playmat Schnauzer, I wanted to stick with the dance name, and since it's a German dog, I wanted a dance of Eastern Europe, so her name was "Polka."

Now, I have a Siamese kitten named Salem. I don't know why.

We named our Pug, Duke. Mainly because my boyfriend is a huge John Wayne fan and also because he had a Chow that was named Duchess. So, it was fitting to name our male dog the opposite of Duchess. Also, it makes it easy to yell out his name.

My indoor cat is named Rowdy and he's 15. My brother and his ex wife got him when he was kitten. They were trying to come up with a name for him one day and he was running all around their apt so she looked at him and said you sure are a rowdy cat and my brother said that's his name.

My cat, Gypsy, adopted me. I was walking to the mailbox a few months ago and she was sitting beside it. I thought she would run as I got closer but she didn't move at all. When I walked back to the house, She was right behind me. I didn't think much about it and thought she'd go away but the next day she was still outside waiting for me and started following my every step. I thought to myself, She's just like a wandering gypsy so that's what I named her.

Then about 3 months later, She had 4 kittens. I didn't name them for several weeks because I was hoping to find homes for them but I couldn't and the pound wasn't an option so I decided to keep them.

The male cat was originally going to be named Boris but I saw where this kitten named Gizmo was tortured and later died by a man whom the cat had scratched. The details were really heartbreaking so he was named Gizmo in his honor.

This gave me 2 cats with names that began with G. so I figured I might as well go all the way. The other 3 were all calico and of course females.

The first was named Gidget because I was watching tv and saw Sally Field's commercial for Boniva and remembered her as Gidget so that's how she got her name.

The next one was named Ginger simply because it came to mind quickly and the last one was named Graycie because her color is mostly gray. :)
