I always wondered that. I was watching the "Friendly Mate" episode on DVD and the dating services asked Willis and Willis didn't even know. Didn't Drummond tell them? I know Phil was a tycoon, but his line of work should have been mentioned. He barely talked about his line of work at home.

He seemed to be into everything. At one time, I thought his main business interest was real estate.

I always thought he was a lawyer, but it's been so long since I've seen Diff'rent Strokes that I'm probably wrong.

Only thing he said was he worked in some big GREEN building in Manhattan, then he got transferred and Willis asked him where and Mr. drummond said-"To that big White Building Across the Street"

LOL-LMAO!

He was home way too much to be a tycoon. I know the show revolved around his relationship with the boys, but they should have showed one episode with him at work so we could see what kind of work he's in.

I sure hope not!! Maybe he had a lot of seniority and didn't have to go in the office as much; hence he was able to spend much more time with his kids.

I believe he got his money from oil. I think an episode makes a vague reference to that. However, he also runs a construction company. There is an episode where Native Americans fight Drummond b/c Drummond wants to build an office building over an Indian burial ground. They eventually come to an agreement.

I always presumed he was sort of that reality's "Donald Trump" minus the fame and "reconizability".

Except Conrad Bain's Mr. Drummond had more class than Donald Trump. Donald Trump couldn't find class if it started with a "C".
