I wonder how long it will be befor season 5 will be coming out

I know the feeling. I always hate to say "never" when it comes to TV on DVD, b/c some shows come out when it looks like they're dead, but this doesn't look good at all. Hopefully someone at Fox will get their act together and release it, or at least give the rights to another company so they can finish it off.

Well, it's now official that season 5 of THE DORIS DAY SHOW is coming out on DVD this year. Yes, THE DORIS DAY SHOW, an all but completely forgotten series, is about to have its fifth and final season released on DVD. But not THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW. Many people don't even realize that there was a DORIS DAY SHOW, which only survived five years due to the charm and popularity of its star. But an all-time classic like THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW can't get its fifth season released? Fox make me sick.

Actually I like TDDS but I also like MTM and TBNS very much as too and own all four seasons of both. Sadly MTM and Bob Newhart are stuck with Fox who sucks when it comes to releasing their classic shows. MPI (Doris Day) and Shout Factory (That Girl) do a much better job as they seem to care about their fans. Boo on Fox :(

Take a look at the sticky "Season 5 soon" thread, there are links to a couple petitions you can sign for S5. One also covers TBNS, so make sure you sign that one!

Seeing as no further releases of Mary Tyler Moore are planned, that means Rhoda, Phyllis, or Lou Grant will never have DVD releases of their own.

I hope they eventually release Seasons 5-7. After all, Sony is FINALLY releasing Season 2 of Barney Miller - FOUR YEARS after the release of Season 1! So I have hope they will eventually release the remaining seasons of MTM and the Bob Newhart Show.

That's exactly the attitude you've got to have. I never give up on my shows. It could still happen. We just need to keep our fingers crossed.

:cool: Kristen, do you like The Bob Newhart Show as well? It is so similar to MTM, plus so many guest stars appeared on both shows. I think you'd also like Barney Miller - the humor was so sarcastic and dry but never mean-spirited. :D

I used to watch TBNS on N@N back in the day, and I enjoyed the TV Land marathon, but I haven't gotten the DVD's yet. I keep going back and forth, hehe. As for Barney Miller, I've only seen like 1 ep, so I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. Are there any on YouTube or something? (You can PM me the links if you'd rather.)

You should be able to find some on YouTube. You could also check the first season (only 13 episodes) out of your local library. Here's a great fan site (and great quotes!):
