CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric says that she's not sure she would have made the move from NBC if she knew she'd be doing the type of show she is doing right now.

In a New York interview, Couric says that understands that viewers hate change and that they tried to change too many things in the first couple of months that she was there, but that she's not sure she would have taken the gig if she knew it would end up as the same traditional network news show. She says there are days she wishes she hadn't taken it. She even hints that if it doesn't turn out to be the job for her, "I'll do something else that's really exciting and fulfilling for me."

I don't think the folks at NBC are losing any sleep over this,.

I'm not sure what others think, but in my opinion, the reason no one is watching Couric on the CBS Evening News is because she isn't that good.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Mike! I never even watch the evening news because I work during those hours, but if I did I would not be watching Katie.

Bob Scheefer (I know I spelled that so wrong) was a lot better. Katie has no sense of humor or something. Bob had fun with the light stories they show at the end.

I like Bob, too. Had Charles Kuralt lived, I would've liked to see him anchor the news as well.

I don't watch the evening news much anymore. I used to watch Tom Brokaw on NBC until he retired. I read Brokaw's book The Greatest Generation, and it got me to watch him on the news. I sometimes watch Brian Williams on NBC. The few times that I have seen Ms. Couric on the CBS news I have been lessed than impressed. Katie isn't as bad as Jenny McCarthy doing the MTV News in the late 90's though.

I don't watch much either (Katie is usually on if anything because we watch the local news on that station right after), but if I was more into it, I'd probably watch Charlie Gibson.

The guy on CBS on the weekends...Russ Mitchell? I like him.

Well, let's see, 15 million a year for zero ratings....yeah, I am sure they are happy with that investment. ;)

What the "big three" networks have to face is that their nightly news thing is in the past.
That thirty minute thing they do doesn't matter anymore when we have a bunch of 24 hour news channels feeding us constant information

We stopped looking for our Dan Rathers and Peter Jennings (RIP) and now Katie Courics to give us all the so called "world news" a long time ago.

To think that brining in perky Katie to deliver a sliver of news would suddenly make people tune in again was a foolish gamble.

Don't blame Katie.

"Network" News is done, but the Networks don't want to admit that.

Or the fact that you can get your news off of the internet and the 24 hour news channels. I agree with TJL, network news is a thing of the past, there's so many more ways of getting your news these days that you don't even have to watch the big three anymore.
