View Full Version : Would James Evans have been LESS funny if the Evans were like the Huxtables? TVFactFan 07-08-2007, 04:35 PM Family who was financially comfortable and not struggling and not in he projects. Would putting James Evans in that kind of situation have made him boring? Ireneparalegal 07-08-2007, 04:49 PM I think so merely because what reason would there be for him to be so angry, grouchy, etc? Look at the show you watch, House of Payne. You yourself said that guy on the show is angry all the time...FOR WHAT REASON? Nothing it seems. Unless I have a good reason why someone is angry a lot of the time, it makes no sense. Yeah I think if the Evans had moved up I would have lost interest in watching the James Evans character GARFIELDKOOL 07-08-2007, 05:17 PM I think James would have been a strong black father still, no hypertension, but he wouldn't have been as silly as Cliff. Remember, John Amos played a very down-to-earth rich father in Coming To America, so it would have worked out. catlover79 07-08-2007, 05:22 PM Yeah I think if the Evans had moved up I would have lost interest in watching the James Evans character I second that. He also played a doctor on the Cosby Show and his character was kind of DRY GARFIELDKOOL 07-08-2007, 05:37 PM He also played a doctor on the Cosby Show and his character was kind of DRY Did Bernadette Stanis guest star on the Cosby Show the same season John Amos did? TVFactFan 07-08-2007, 05:40 PM Did Bernadette Stanis guest star on the Cosby Show the same season John Amos did? I'm not sure. But I wonder if John Amos had the skills to play a PLEASANT TV character in a funny way. I know on Fresh Prince he kind of played more of irritable character which made him funny like on Good times GARFIELDKOOL 07-08-2007, 05:48 PM I'm not sure. But I wonder if John Amos had the skills to play a PLEASANT TV character in a funny way. I know on Fresh Prince he kind of played more of irritable character which made him funny like on Good times He acted like he was Will's boyfriend which did make him funny. He did almost go James on Uncle Phil when Phil kept throwing paying for Will and Lisa's wedding in his face. That was funny! sugamama 07-08-2007, 10:58 PM Wasn't he the dad in All about the Andersons?? I know the show was short lived but I think that he did a pretty good job as a middle class family man although he was a bit grouchy. catlover79 07-08-2007, 11:00 PM Wasn't he the dad in All about the Andersons??
