I could never do her justice but this is my sincere yet feeble first attempt to pay tribute to a great actress and one of the best and most beloved characters in television history.

Irene Ryan was truly one of a kind. I couldn't see anyone else playing Granny.

Think of the energy it took for 60+ year old woman to do what she did! The costume, wig, glasses and army boots had to be uncomfortable burden under those hot lights.

She was a joy to watch, such a spunky little woman.

me too! Then when I found out her real age; I was surprised when I found out that she wore a wig! I knew her glasses weren't real; but I though that her hair was.

The link does not seem to take you to the tribute video.
I search Youtube but could not find it.

I always wondered why there was no website paying tribute to Irene.
You would think with all the money her scholarship fund for young actors has given over the years someone would put together a website to honor this great lady.

Well unfortunately youtube took it down for copyright infringement, those so and so's!!! :-) I don't understand though because all the clips in the video were from the copyright free 1st season.... They took all my hillbillies clips down except for the commercial for tostitos....ugh... Sorry. When I find a new place to host it i'll throw the link back up.

I can picture Irene "Granny" Ryan and Estelle "Sophia" Getty, Americas 2 favorite sitcom grandmas up in heaven, sharing stories.
