How often do you really watch Fresh Prince on NAN?

Thank You. BTW, this thread is to find out who really watches FP since it seems to be such an issue here on the boards and how it is shown too much on N&N.

NEVER. I don't watch it. I don't care to. It is re-runned into the ground.

Never and I actually like the show but enough is enough.

I never watch it on Nick at Nite. But I watch it on DVD once in a while. And I used to watch it when it first aired on NBC. But, like I say, I never watch it on N&N. Course, for that matter, I never watch "Roseanne" or "The Cosby Show" either. The last show I watched on Nick at Nite was "NewsRadio." And we all know how that went.

I just want people to know that even though I'm voting "Never", I still think it's a good show (not great).

Thats the way I am too. I don't watch Roseanne or TCS either and I do think they're good shows too.

I actually put sometimes, since that's the truth. I don't extensively watch it, though, which is what I think most people don't do as well. I still like the show, but not as much as I used to, which I what I would also think would happen to most people.

Never. They air it too freaking much. This show is a favorite of mine, it's been that way ever since I was a child. I would always watch this show and Blossom every Monday night on NBC. I don't want to start getting sick of it. I love this show but I never want to tire of it this way. It's the same with other fan favorites that have been run into the ground. I'm really surprised the tapes haven't worn out and fallen apart yet. If they air this only once or twice a night (like a show IMHO is SUPPOSED to be run), then yeah, I'd probably watch it then.

Marathons are nice every once in a while, but they just go above and beyond and it's just pathetic. There are other shows in the vault.

Well since I watch the show on NBC during my highschool and college years and in local syndication from 1995-1999, I don't watch it on N@N as often. Only if there is a MASH or ANDY GRIFFITH marathon on TV LAND

JulieSomoski

I used to watch it occasionally when it aired originally, and back then it used to be good. But this poll just goes to see that there is no possible reason this show gets the ratings it does.

I'm from Sweden, so I don't really know how this works, and I can't vote in the poll. But I have to say, that it sounds ridiculous. I like "Fresh Prince" and I try to watch every episode, but the way it sounds, Nick At Nite hardly airs anything else. How many times a night is this show aired on N@N? Do they air many different episodes every night, or is one episode aired several times a night?

Ah, then it's similar to a TV channel here in Sweden, TV4 Komedi, that airs a lot of classic sitcoms. It will air every episode twice within 24 hours. And its sister channel TV4 Guld does the same thing to classic dramas, soap operas and police series.

Does anyone here have a Neilsen box? Do they count how much time someone watch's something? The ratings may just come from Channel Surfers have watch for just a few minutes?

JulieSomoski

I had a Nielson box for a year in 2001, but for some reason I had it removed after that.

I watch it sometimes. I don't care to much for the older ones. I like when it first started. I don't care to much for the older shows. I got fresh prince season 1 and 2 on dvd. I hadn't watch them in a while. I'm not sure if I want to buy the older shows. I don't like the olders shows much.

I watch it occaisonallly, if I catch it on, and there's nothing better on. It's a good show, and I wouldn't want to see N@N dump it permanently, but this is just ridiculous. Sometimes I wonder if Will Smith owns part of the network or something! LOL Aren't all the seasons out on DVD already? Who can possibly be watching it so much?

I haven't a clue as to who would be watching it, I just know that this show is not only on N&N but also on other channels.

I guess there are people who can't enjoy a good dose of Discovery Channel or some other worthy, notable channels that offers great television.

But I never found an answer to my question. WHy does Fresh Prince get that good of ratings? If no one watched it all the time, then there is no way it came be getting near 1.5 million viewers each night, which all the other shows get below 1 million. Is NAN inflating their numbers? But then if they were, why? I just don't get it.

But you can't base the ratings on N@N by the members on this board. There are probably BRND NEW fans of Fresh prince who fall into the age range of 10-17 who were not even born when Fresh Prince on NBC. So i think it's a Hit with preteens and teenagers because they have just been introduced to the show. The boys probably watch for Ashely and Hilary and the Girls watch for will and Carlton

That might explain my Murphy Brown gets low ratings, those kids don't get the jokes on it. But those kids can't stay up all night, even in the summer. The original purpose of Nick@Nite was to run shows that appealed to adults because kids are asleep at night. If Disney was smart, they'd create something like Nick@Nite for its night programming. Nick@Nite shows what was on in the evenings after school 10-15 years ago. The "classic" channel is now (or was) TV Land.

Back to the question, even if kids watch it, that doesn't even fall in NAN's 18-49 demographic that they are looking for. So, even if kids do watch it, would that even count in the ratings? And back to the Murphy Brown thing, when it was airing originally in the 90's, I was only 14 years old, and I watched it almost every Monday when it was on. I loved the show when I was a kid, and I understood all the jokes, so I wouldn't find that argument too legit.

The thing Solomon said about the new viewers thing is very true, if you think about it. I mean, no matter how old you are, there are so many chances for someone to watch the show for the first time and like. I mean, it's on all the time, so anybody could just turn on the TV and become addicted, like I once was.

Yeah, I've been enjoying watching Nick at Nite again. I haven't watched in about 2 weeks since I've been watching ION, but it's nice to see Roseanne get a week long marathon again.

What's next week: Full House? If it's Full House, I won't be watching much again. I am looking forward to the Cosby week, though, and August.

So, it looks like most people at these boards never watch Fresh Prince when its on, when some watch it sometimes, and no one wagches it for most of its airings. It's kind of odd, but kind of not, because I guess like many of you said before, a lot of kids wtach the show, and I wouldn't think kids would come to these message boards, which explains it.
