I always wondered did Sam Jones replace Andy Griffith

On TV Land, they must have just completed the run of the shows. The last "new" episode they showed was titled "Mayberry RFD". Was this the very last Andy Griffith Show episode?

Andy & Helen got married in the first episode of Mayberry RFD. Didn't Opie & Aunt Bee move in with Sam & his son?

That was the last episode.


Aunt Bee did but Opie didn't. He was only shown in the first episode of RFD at Andy and Helen's wedding.

I think Ron Howard wanted to leave the show plus it would have been hard for him to be a regular when Andy was hardly on. Andy did make some guest appearances during the first season but left town not long after. Interestingly Andy and Helen did make a return appearance later on announcing the birth of their son Andy JR who was never mentioned again not even in the reunion movie.

I did watch the movie a couple times and don't remember it. I could be mistaken though because I haven't seen it in years.

I did check around the web and everywhere I looked it said that Andy Jr wasn't mentioned in the movie.

That wasn't Andy Jr who would have been in his 20's at that time.
