It's all right here folks! Seems ABC is shopping the show to another DVD company since Buena Vista's license to release the show is expiring soon. Nothing definite yet in terms of release dates or which company is releasing it, but the point is is that the show is no longer dead. Click on the link and see for yourself!

And there was much rejoicing...

This is great news. My hope is for Image to release it. Or Anchor Bay. Just a company that doesn't abandon a show. It would be embarrassing (and frustrating) if this show gets abandoned by two different companies, lol.

My feeling about Image is, that if they can release all seven seasons (in six box sets) of "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" then they can release all seasons of ANY show, lol. I like "The New Class" but there is no way that show could have been a big seller in the DVD market. Yet Image set a schedule and released the entire series within a year (season 1 in January and the last season in December!).

I was just thinking the other day how Boy Meets World, The Golden Girls and Home Improvement all came out around the same time. The Golden Girls 7th (and final) season came out already. Home Improvement's 7th season is coming soon. And Boy Meets World was stuck on it's 3rd season. So this news has cheered me up some.

Actually, I have mixed feelings about this. For one, it's a good thing that we will actually see future seasons being released. On the other hand, Disney gave us nice packaging for the sets, and I'm afraid if another company picks it up, they won't treat it as well. I"m hoping Anchor Bay gets it, because they always put out extremely good sets and never abandon their series!

I would rather Buena Vista release the rest of this series. But at this point, I just want the episodes to come out on DVD, uncut. I don't care who releases them or if the new box sets look like crap compared to the first three. Though I want bonus features, I just really want the rest of this show released, so I'd even be happy with a bare-bones set.

"Ellen" was from Buena Vista yet A&E released the series on DVD. Who knows, maybe they'll pick it up.

Buena Vista is likely not going to release the rest of the series so would you rather not have it at all then another company take it over?

I think this is really good news, not a confirmed release but it's going in the right direction

It is great news. HOWEVER, what has me concerned is that the new company would re-release the first 3 seasons before doing Seasons 4 -7. My concern with that is, I could see sales being low for Seasons 1-3 since most fans already own it. I certainly won't be buying the first 3 seasons again when I already own them. But if that's the case, and sales are low, the new company could interpret that as there not being enough interest in the show, halting plans for future seasons.

What I suggest we do is let the new company know (when we learn what it is) of our concerns and try to urge them to release Season 4 first and finish up the remaining seasons and then re-release Seasons 1-3 AFTER all of the later seasons have been released. Otherwise, I could see history repeating itself.

I doubt the new company would do that. If they did, I'd think they'd release the first 3 seasons on the same day or in the same set, just for the fans who don't already own the first 3 seasons.

What would really be cool is if Time-Life buys "Boy Meets World" and then releases it as a complete series like they did with "Get Smart" and are doing soon with "The Man from UNCLE".

But I guess not everyone could buy it if it was at Time-Life, because I'm sure it would cost a lot. But still, I'd like it.

I doubt (and hope) that they re-release seasons 1 thru 3. Look at The Cosby Show. The new company took over and started up where the first company left off. The same with the upcoming "Make Room for Daddy." But I can doubt it all day long, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. At least hope is no longer gone and we're here talking about the future of "Boy Meets World" on DVD as a thing that's going to happen! :)

I sure hope Shout Factory doesn't pick up Boy Meets World because I haven't yet to see a DVD made from Shout Factory that has english subtitles or closed caption (I am deaf by the way)

It's too bad they didn't take a little extra time and count the seasons right and add outer boxes to the box sets. College years and season 5 have cases but 1+2 and 3+4 have no outer case. Cases make it look better and help protect the inside stuff. As far as seasons go... if I remember correctly 1+2 is right but seasons 3+4 is really 3 and season 5 is really 4. I suppose they saved money by going cheap on the sets but hopefully they wouldn't do that on BMW because Beuna Vista's set was real good looking. I actually have Home Improvement, Life As We know It and Playmakers from Buena Vista. All are really nice looking and I like the size of the sets (not to fat not to slim so they fall down). I am not a fan of Home Improvement season 6 though with the slide over cover and dvd case style. I like it when the sets stay consistent in size, shape, style etc.

Finally, someone who agrees with me: Packaging does matter!

This is a pleasant update. As a Boy Meets World fan, I am looking to buy season 3 to season 7. Hopefully the season 4 dvd will come to fruition.

I think one of the big reasons BMW didn't sell well for Disney was because of how overpriced the sets were. I bought season 1 for $43.99 . . . and it was the most expensive set I've ever botten. Then, seasons 2 and 3 were both $39.99, and that was still pretty expensive. Maybe if Disney would have lowered their prices, we could have had the entire series out on DVD.

Has there been any updates on the other company taking over the DVD rights?

Does anyone know why it's so expensive? I wanted to buy Season 1 a while ago (loved that season), but it was $40. For a show that couldn't sell well, shouldn't the price be dramatically lower?

Not necessarily, although, truthfully, I wouldn't pay that much. I think I paid something like $25 for mine. If you haven't already, try www.amazon.com or, even better, try www.half.com and do a search for the show on DVD. There are a bunch of sellers who are selling DVDs for less than half the price and they may have Season 1 offered. And no, they're not always in used condition either. A lot of times they're offering DVD sets that are new and still sealed.

Good luck!

I know I payed $40 for my set, but it's been worth it. I watch it all the time, plus the set is an overall eye-pleaser.

The DVD's are so expensive because Buena Vista distributed them. I think they're the most expensive. And they're hardly ever on sale. Shows such as Scrubs, Home Improvement and The Golden Girls are also owned by them...And of course, they're all $40 for a single season set. It's rediculous, really.

I think Boy Meets World was the most expensive set they've ever put out for a classic sitcom. Even their current dramas, like DH and GA, are only a few dollars more. Home Improvement and Golden Girls can all be found for a little over $30, and the latest seasons of Home Improvement are just $20. it's just insane how cheap on company can be when it comes to money.

I preordered all the seasons at 27.99 from Amazon and had season 4 pre ordered as well. All of them jumped up from around that price to like 43.00 real quickly.

You got a great deal, then. I still don't understand why the gotta be put at such a high price. All the other Disney/NV shows, like Golden Girls and Home Improvement, can easily be found for around $30. I wonder why this one's an exception.

While we're still on the price issue, I got my first season for my birthday for 15 bucks at Target. And the rest were all 20.
