I know a lot of people did'nt like Phil (David Ruprecht), and thought Janet could have gotten someone better, but I liked him. Liked him as the host of Supermarket Sweep too.

but you haven't stated why Phil was LIKABLE on three's company.

Just thought he was nice, polite, funny, and in his own little way sorta cute.

I think the fact that he was introduced and then a few episodes later married to Janet plays a big part in this. Maybe if they had him introduced earlier and appear throughout the season, people could see the relationship develop and actually believe it. It seemed rushed to me, so we never really got a chance to know Phil that well.
Plus, I know a lot of people wanted a Jack/Janet ending.
