There is 2 other Vbulletin boards that I visit that's slow as well today.

Just wondering if this board has the same problems.

Probably just coincidental.

Well Pravda.ru says, that Vbulletin might be updating some systems as they are experiencing some page loading problems too.

Does Sitcoms Online have automatic updates for their messageboards?

It's not a vBulletin issue. The server load was still very high when they were turned off from 5-7PM. I'm pretty sure it's an e-mail issue. There are thousands of e-mails stuck in the queue that are waiting to be sent out. Once those e-mails get flushed from the system, things will be back to normal. One domain had over 350,000 spam e-mails on it.

One moderator over at Pravda says every 6 months they get instant updates from vBulletin on their forums. It usually happens in January and July. Their forums have been slow this weekend, so I'm wondering if it happens here too.

What kind of spam are you getting, and who is spamming you?

Strange indeed!

Are you getting this spam in in PM's or Moderator Report boxes?

Jenya, the issue is being addressed. The spam mails were being sent to non-existent e-mail addresses... such as bob123@sitcomsonline.com - they are called dictionary attacks.

There are no automatic updates on vBulletin as far as I know. They have to be installed by the licensee, or you can pay vBulletin to have them upgraded.

I know about that, TJ (I often get a sh*itload of them too), but are you getting thousands of these emails at one shot?

Just curious.

Seth, Thanks again for deleting that thread. I hope I was not too rude to you!

I feel worried if I offend other posters here with a very harsh question.

Please let me know if I was way to harsh too you!

TJ, I accused you for locking this thread. The truth is You didn't. I apologize to you for this- Please forgive me.

No worries. The thread lock was a technical glitch in an evening full of them. It's not problem.

That said, TJ is taking a rest after a long evening of working on the site, so all apologies if he's unable to respond to the thread, at least for now.

Thanks Seth. but when I accuse TJ or you- or anybody else.. for somthing that is wrong on my behalf, I get the feeling that I am not very liked as a person.

That is how I grew up under Russian culture, and I very feel bad if I offended him.

I also noticed in the Manage Attachments window that the amount of images one is able to upload has gone from seven to five. Is this related to this problem?

AS I mentioned in the post overviewing the problem, yes, this is related. I'd previously increased the attachment limit eons ago back in the better days of the server. By decreasing the limit back to 5 it takes some pressure off the server in terms of uploads, processing said uploads, etc. It's not much, but it helps.
