He is truely missed... we are richer for having known him.... no pun inteneded there... of course...

he was a really remarkable actor, with supendous talent and apeal.

he really grasped the character of Mr. Howell, and made him what we have come to know and love. :) ....:(

And let's not forget he was the voice of Mr. Magoo, a really terrific old cartoon series. Mr. Backus, you are missed.
