Prof: Milk Prices May Go Up Another Buck

Milk prices are skyrocketing everywhere, and a University of Missouri researcher said the price rise is not over yet.

In May whole milk in the Kansas City area averaged $3.90 a gallon, breaking the record set three years ago. At some stores whole milk cost more than $4 a gallon.

Two percent milk averaged $3.75.

Scott Brown is a dairy researcher at the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute at Missouri-Columbia. He said he expects prices to rise another 75 cents to $1 per gallon in the next three months.

The cost of cheese, ice cream and other dairy products is also rising, causing some restaurants who use tons of to raise their prices.

I'm glad this is one thing that is rising in price that I don't have to worry about buying but I think it's ridiculous for those that do buy it.

One of our workstudies recently went up to Colorado to visit her husband's family in early May, and I remember she told me that a gallon of milk over there costed $5! How insane!

Such a pity because I love dairy...especially milk and cheese.

Must have been at Wild Oats or Whole Foods or something, it's still in the $2 range at gas stations/Safeway.
