Has anyone else had trouble with this site today? For some reason its been really slow on my computer and its given me double posts a couple of times and once it said the site was unavailable. Then it come up with site error a couple of times. I'm just trying to figure out if its my computer acting strange or if its the site having problems.

It happens quite often. I too have made threads in the past when this occurred. When it runs slow like this, I either leave it alone or I will turn off the computer and restart it again. Also, when it does run slow like this, wait a while for your post to appear. Don't keep clicking "post" because that is when you get double posts.

But yeah, it is running real slow.

It's running slow for me also, I got a server too busy message when I searched for new posts plus my posts are taking longer than usual to go through.

Now this is what I don't understand, I submitted my previous post at 9:09 and it took 2 minutes to go through but yours has a time stamp of 9:10. It seems as though if myself & another person is posting in the same thread, It slows down for me. This has happened quite often in several forums but mainly in chit-chat.

I've been having problems with the site myself. It'll be running normally at one point, then the next minute it crawls to a halt. Occasionally there's a server slowdown if myself or TJ have to perform an admin function, but as I said to TJ, "This one's not my fault".

Well I was starting to think there was something wrong with my computer. I swear I'm reading a book while waiting for my posts to go through. No joke, I can read 1 to 2 pages while waiting.

For whatever reason, the server loads have been EXTREMELY high for the last while, and TJ doesn't know what the problem is. However, as I speak, he's hunting for the cause and performing some general maintenance. Obviously, by the time you read this, hopefully the problem will be fixed.

Thanx for looking into it. I mean, this is the worst I have ever seen it. It is BAD!

The slowness has only gotten worse for me since the site was down for maintenance, Hopefully though the problem won't last much longer.

It is actually been slow for me for a couple of days.

Right now it is doing pretty good. An hour ago it was real bad. But for like four days it has been up and down, real slow or real good.

I've made a few little minor tweaks. I've completely disabled profile pictures, and made a few backend tweaks. The site seems to be going a LITTLE faster, but not a lot. Todd may still be making some tweaks as well.

I feel like one of the Slowsky's, that turtle family from the Comcast ads, who loves slow Internet, lol.

Actually, it seems to continually be running poorly. It's out of my hands at this point.

Incidentally, the server load at one point a couple hours ago was SO high I'm honestly surprised the poor thing didn't blow entirely.

It seems like it has gotten a lot better now. Hope it stays that way.:D

When something like this happens, it makes me appreciate this site more.

I was about to send TJ an email.

I thought it was my computer, and when you can't access the site you can't confirm if it's you or SO that is having trouble.

SO is the only site I am having problems with. That was my clue that it wasn't my computer. :lol:

for me, the official american idol boards are soooo slow, and when they are going faster then this site i know theres a problem!!! :crazy:

Good point, but I have had so much trouble with my computer in the recent past, I couldn't dismiss that it was me.

I also find myself deleting and tinkering around, so I wasn't sure if I did something that rendered the site inaccessable - like not allowing cookies or restricting certain sites.

Plus

1. tried SO earlier in the day, couldn't get on
2. tried it later on another computer, and got right away
3. couple hours later tried at home again and couldn't get on

So I jumped to a possible conclusion.
