Are you so used to a product's name brand that that is what you call it? For instance do you ask someone to hand you an adhesive bandage or a Band-Aid? Do ask for a cotton swab or a Q-Tip?! LOL!! I've noticed that I've done that alot. Do you do that? And what other products do you do that to?

You may find this interesting. I posted this thread sometime back and never realized how many products are referred to by their brand name, rather than the product name. Thanx for bringing this topic up again, I found it very interesting.

I am constantly on the lookout for other items that are referred to their brand names rather than their product name.

Offhand Irene ( without looking at the link which may have all of these on it ) i can think of :
Rollerblades, Hackysacks ( For a kicking bag ) and Kleenex
One that no one uses anymore is "Ford" for an automobile ( In Model-T times, 50% of all cars in the World were Fords, after all )

Oh yes; I do that too all the time! I call cotton swabs Q-Tips, adhesive bandages, Band-Aids and a bunch of other things!
And everyone in my family always calls an A.T.M. a "Mac machine" (for those who are too young to remember, A.T.M.s were part of a network called "MAC" when they first came out).
