was trying to keep the Line free n the ep-"Rudy Spends the Night, I see it didn't because the Huxtables defintely would have had it if it did-lol So it looks like calling waiting didn't start until the 1990's

I think call waiting started in like 88 or 89, not sure.

Call waiting stated before that i believe.

CLiff was probably too cheap to get it.

It depends what area of the country you lived in and what phone service you had. The entire country didn't have the call waiting and other features yet.

I guess for this episode they made it "convenient" to not have the call waiting feature.

In 1987 I didn't have any features on my phone. Cordless phones weren't even the "thing" yet.
