I might be in the minority here, but I wish they had gotten more mileage out of the Evan Drake situation---that created some of the really funny Rebecca moments. Then they went on to Robin Colcord and I think that's when Rebecca's character really changed for the worse.
I don't know, what do you think?

I agree, it created a believeable triangle of Sam/Becky/Evan....especially the episode on the boat. The Robin Colcourt years made Rebecca a goldigging ditz and someone Sam would likely have stayed away from.....at least Evan was a decent guy, wheras Robin was a total JERK.
They could have used Evan longer, he seemed more grounded than Robin did, but I sort of liked Robin too. I liked his accent and he wasn't bad looking either. Evan was more mature I suppose.

Exactly--it seemed with Evan, Rebecca was just less confident and more insecure with herself and also, had a genuine crush on him. With Robin, she just seemed to be interested in him for his money and that's when I think she became more superficial.

Tom Skerrit didnt really belong in a comedy and Rebecca's crush on him seemed forced (and then he killed his career by making out with a teenaged drew barrymore yech).
I think the most classic character deterioration on TV was, in fact, Rebecca over the 6 years she was on cheers. she went from a serious-minded manager in her debut to a pathetic bumbling fool towards the end. good stuff. at first, it seemed that sam's disrespectfulness towards her in the early going (which woulda constituted sexual harrasment anywhere else) was crass and shoulda been put to a stop. but then when she revealed to us that she was a loser who was a phony when it came to her career confidence, then one can conclude that she deserved to be treated like a ho by sam. after all, she ended up doing him many times and even did frasier to boot (what a slut)
