Any thoughts on this case?

Well personally I don't believe he joined the Azmat tribe. He seemed to be focused on why he was there and was anxious to make it back to safety when they encountered problems. I do think he was dead shortly after as search parties began searching for him only hours after he went missing. I'm unsure whether he drowned or was murdered though. Of course the possibility of cannabilism has been raised as well. There is some talk (although its not confirmed) that his mother hired a P.I. years later to travel there to try and find out what really happened. He supposedly exchanged a boat engine to a tribe for 3 skulls that they claimed were the only 3 white men they ever killed. He is thought to have returned the skulls to his mother for testing although the family has never commented on it if its true. I know it may sound farfetched but everything about this story seems that way.
