View Full Version : Which UM person reminds you most of you?
wiseguy182 06-28-2007, 02:27 AM Okay, so I thought this might be a neat question to ask: Which UM person reminds you most of you? Or, if nobody comes to mind, is there anyone on UM that you look like? Or, if nobody comes to mind on that question either, is there anyone on UM that you identify most with?
I'll go first: I think I am most like Norman Ladner. Kind of quiet and responsible for his age, but was known to crack jokes. Loved the outdoors as a means of temporarily getting away from the hussel and bussel of everyday life.
I'm interested to hear some responses. :)
Geez, I'll have to think hard on this one....................
I'll get back to you!
crystaldawn 06-28-2007, 11:09 AM Interesting thread. :) Well as soon as I saw a picture of Pam Ellender I thought she resembled me in my engagement picture. Also one of the victims of the I-70 Killer reminded me a little of myself back when I had 'big hair'.
iamincredible 06-28-2007, 11:33 AM robert stack because I love to hang around in spooky areas while wearing a long coat and speaking with a gravelly voice.
Maybe Keeley Shay or Virginia Madsen, because I like to pretend to host UM along side Robert Stack but really only make a fool of myself
The only slightest resemblence I can think of, is the Rhonda chick from the Grace Brown/Chester Gillette segment. The young camp worker that went upstairs in the cabin and didn't see anything but her friends outside did. I resembled her (especially the hair) when I was in high school.

You stole mine!
Seriously, the problem with UM is that at least 50% of the people interviewed for the show are not people you want to think of yourself as resembling or identifying with (possible murder suspects, weirdos who claim to see things that aren't there, etc.). The other 50% seem to be nice enough people, but as I've never had a child go missing or a close relative murdered, it's hard to say I "identify" with them. I sympathize with them, to be sure, but I just don't have the trauma in my background to identify with them. Four people I always found particularly sympathetic on UM were Matt Flores (post mortem, of course) and his wife, Gordon McAllister, and Jeremy ______, the young man whose fiancee, Heather, was killed by the hammer-wielding maniac who stole the computer they brought to sell him. Jeremy, of course, died himself in an auto accident in 1997.
But, of course, all four of these are linked by tragedy --- I feel very fortunate that I really cannot identify with the loss any of them felt.

I thought that was you in your display pic

I believe this is suppose to be a muck-around fun thread, not a serious one..?
On topic; I've got no resemblence to anyone I can think of. I do have a pair of Matrix style shades that were similar to those in the composite sketch of "G-Man". I know it's weak but it was the only thing that came to mind.
HyeTev 06-28-2007, 12:49 PM Good topic! :)
I would have to say W. Bruce Umpleby (the Stark County Sheriff during the Wacker's case) is a lot like me... especially in demeanour.
DarkDante 06-28-2007, 04:00 PM I thought that was you in your display pic
 POST OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!!!

You weren't supposed to tell.
Dante...:p
phillipscurve 06-28-2007, 05:20 PM The only resemblance I can think of: Jordan Knight of the NKOB (from the first "Update" to the Kari Lynn Nixon segment).
DarkDante 06-28-2007, 06:39 PM wiseguy if you are reading - great avatar but you need to put up the screengrab when her eyes get all huge and wide when she actually says "turning the light off" - one of the best expressions ever on UM!

I tried, but it's difficult to pause it at just that exact moment. But believe me, I know what you're talking about and yes that was a riot!
whoo!, 1000 posts! But eek, the next milestone is a long ways off...10,000 posts.
wiseguy182 06-29-2007, 12:19 AM update: Ok, I switched my avatar slightly, I got it as close as I could to when her eyes got huge, I couldn't pause the disc though, as it would say pause on the avatar.
wiseguy182 07-01-2007, 11:40 PM I don't think I look like anybody on UM. Come to think of it, I don't think I look like any celebrities either. But if I was forced to pick someone I looked like, I would say a little bit like Jon Cryer?
Where is everybody? :bored:
LooksLikeCRicci 07-02-2007, 07:50 AM We're here... but I will echo your sentiments. It IS kind of a slow week, as far as posting is concerned.
...at least I have an excuse! :)
Jon Cryer, huh? We all know who I claim to look like. Unfortunately, she wasn't on any UM segments... hence my previous silence on this particular thread. :) I love the idea, though! :)

It was a slow week. I haven't received volume 10 yet (should get it on Wednesday when I go home), and of course other sources of UM have dried up lately. So it's a little tough right now. But this board will pull through these dark times --- I know we can do it!

Actually last week the board was quite active and it seems that weekends are always slower than weekdays so I figure it should be back up to speed this week.

I wondering that too, wiseguy. I usually click on the UM board and it says at least 20-something people "looking". The last two days, it's been in the single digits. What's up?
The only resemblance I can think of: Jordan Knight of the NKOB (from the first "Update" to the Kari Lynn Nixon segment).
Wow, you're hot then! Jordan was my 2nd favorite!
;) :D

I did read a post on the chit chat board that said SO has been slow the last few days - meaning as far as the server goes. Maybe some people noticed that and decided to try again another time. Also I don't know if this being 4th of July holiday coming up and a lot of people with plans could be a factor.

Sorry, didn't mean to give offense crystaldawn --- just agreeing with a phenomenon that I thought others had observed as well.
This high vacation time, and with no obvious source of Unsolved Mysteries in the States (thank you, Lifetime), there isn't that natural ability to discuss the most recently aired cases.
LooksLikeCRicci 07-04-2007, 03:46 AM That's all I was eluding too, as well. Stupid Lifetime and LRW. :(
ididn'tdoit 07-26-2007, 04:32 PM I just rewatched the Russell Evans story and I must say his friend Seyd Matteson, who is interviewed in the segment, looks a lot like me :), although I don't really care for flannel
DarkDante 07-26-2007, 06:45 PM I would never cheat anyone out of money BUT if I ever did I would done the same thing Dennis Walker did with his ill gotten loot.
Corky Kneivel 07-26-2007, 07:49 PM I'm yunnoemsayin not like anyone yunnoemsayin that I've ever yunnoemsayin seen yunnoemsayin on Unsolved Mysteries. yunnoemsayin Nope...yunnoemsayin...not a single person yunnoemsayin comes to mind. yunnoemsayin If there were yunnoemsayin any people yunnoemsayin like me on the show, yunnoemsayin I think I would...yunnoemsayin...kinda...yunnoemsayin...notice. yunnoemsayin
LooksLikeCRicci 07-28-2007, 12:25 AM HAHAHAHA! We ALL know what you're sayin', Corky. :)
Not A News Broadcast 07-28-2007, 04:48 AM I get told that I look like Henry Rollins all the time.
greatgarrett2 07-30-2007, 08:20 PM I saw a bit of myself in Gordon Page Jr., being autistic myself I could identify alot with him and what he was going through. Also, I feel empathy for the family as well, they seemed so lovin g and caring, like mine.....
Great topic BTW! I'll try and think of more.
Cheers

Ohh... you just wait until I get home, buddy! :) I'm goin' Dennis DePue on your @$$.... ;)
Okay. Back on topic: I don't look like anyone on UM, but I get freaked out at how many 27 year old women disappear off the face of the earth. And UM showed a slew of them... most of which were petite brunettes. That kinda freaked me out.

:eyes: I've always had a soft spot for petite, sweet talking brunettes from Montana. :eyes:
