I just wanted to say how interesting I find this fact. Several of sitcom actresses who became beloved by playing mothers/grandmothers never had kids of their own in real life. Case in point: Agnes Moorehead (Bewitched), Linda Lavin (Alice), Bonnie Franklin (One Day at a Time), Ellen Corby (The Waltons), Katherine MacGregor (Little House on the Prairie), to name a few. They all did such believable work that it's hard to believe none of them ever really had kids (Agnes Moorehead did have a foster child at one point, and Linda Lavin had stepchildren by her second husband). Any thoughts?

Ann B Davis (Alice)was like a mother figure to the Brady boys before Mike and Carol got together, she never had kids in real life.

I forgot to add Esther Rolle (Florida, Good Times). She also never had kids in real life.

One recent example is Faith Ford. [Hope & Faith]

Betty White has never had any biological children... she did help raise Allen Ludden's children, however.

Yes, that is true. She is still in contact with them, even though her husband Allen Ludden passed on over 25 years ago. Have you seen last week's issue of Soap Opera Digest? There is a feature story on Betty White, as she is now a cast member of Bold & The Beautful. It was a great article!
