View Full Version : Would you have liked to see Ann & Schneider end up together??

I know Schneider did have quite a crush on Ann, and was basically harmless despite his shameless barging in and butting in. That said, I'm glad they DID NOT end up together - they would've made a horrible couple. Glad they just kept it as friends/sparring partners.

Nah, Schneider was too goofy for Ann. They were much better as platonic friends.

No way! I am glad that the writers did not go that route.

It's been so long since I've seen all the episodes, I don't remember if Ann and David get married or not. I'm thinking that they don't though.

No, Ann never married David Kane. He left after the first season (from what I've read), but Richard Masur came back several years later in a guest spot. I guess he and Ann resolved their differences but parted ways as friends.

Actually, this makes sense because when I first started seeing the episodes again I didn't even remember David. I just remembered Ann, Julie, Barbara and Schneider. The fact that David was in so few episodes is probably why I didn't remember him.

Actually he was in a number of second season episodes, so they could properly write off his character. There was the almost wedding, where Ann and David say their goodbyes.

In the sixth season Richard Masur made a guest appearance as David Kane. He was still carrying a torch for Ann while she was dating Nick, her business partner and Alex's father. But David realized that it was then and it is now. It was good that they brought full closure to that relationship.

As for Schneider and Ann getting together it would not had been a good idea. That relationship was like Lou Grant and Mary Richards. The only exception was Lou treated Mary like a daughter and she looked to him as a father figure of sorts which was why she always addressed him as Mr. Grant. Schneider served as a serrogate father to Julie and Barbara while Ann was at work and working through her issues. He always wanted Ann but she did not bite. If you look at the season where her and Sam got together there was a rivalry there between them because of Ann. When they got married there was no way he could had continued barging in.

In today's times there was no way Schneider would had got away with barging in like that with two teenage girls. There were episodes where he was alone in the house with the girls while Ann was gone. No way that would had worked.

They probably wouldn't have lasted long as a couple but it would have been funny if they dated on & off a little bit. I think it would have made for some interesting episodes.

I agree Janet. There is no doubt about that. I never even thought about them hooking up when all was said and done. I still find it hard to believe that Laura Winslow and Steve Urkel hooked up in the last season of "Family Matters".

It might have been funny, but maybe a little bit too predictable or more so "cliche".

I'm surprised he never got busted for always letting himself into Ann's apartment - especially with two teenage girls living there!!

In the first episode Schneider implied that he was a married man. I think that plot got ditched very early on.

To my knowledge, it was never mentioned again after the first episode. I think this mystery woman went the way of Chuck Cunningham, Judy Winslow, Carl Dixon, etc.
