Mikado 06-24-2007, 08:45 PM I thought the Lucy show with Gale Gordon as Mr Mooney ( Which I havent seen in 20 years ) was very good.....I enjoy Heres Lucy with Gale Gordon as Lucys brother in law, less ( They almost seem to like each other in that one  ), I think it was more a showcase for her children Lucy and Desi jr than for her talents, and as such, it has less of an edge......Life with Lucy, never saw it.
sigmapi30 06-24-2007, 08:58 PM I was thinking today, I bet alot of people dont think about the Lucy&Viv B&W years, when thinking of The Lucy Show, they just seem to think about Lucy&Mooney the Colorized years.
When I think of Lucy, I think about the "I Love Lucy" show. Its my favorite, the others are ok but the first one is best.
sigmapi30 06-25-2007, 06:53 PM Welcome to the Board! I wish everyone had as much enthusiam for all Lucy's shows as they do for I Love Lucy. Granted it was the best, but the others are great too! After all, it is Lucy!!
sigmapi30 07-01-2007, 11:09 AM hmm...only a couple of posts. have many ILL fans been exposed to Lucy's other shows? i guess it's possible they havent.
Madame X 07-01-2007, 12:32 PM Well, since people aren't answering, I'll throw in my two cents worth. I have been a major "I Love Lucy" fan for over 45 years.
"The Lucy Show" was somewhat ok. I liked the B&W ones with Viv and some of the Mr. Mooney ones were pretty good. The best one was when Lucy and Viv install a shower. I didn't like Chris and Jerry. There was no chemistry and they didn't seem like a real family.
"Here's Lucy" wasn't as good. Gale Gordon's role as Harry didn't have the spark with Lucy as Mr. Mooney did. I liked seeing Lucy's real kids, but I thought Lucie was not a very good actress.
The reason the later shows couldn't hold a candle to "I Love Lucy" is because of the cast and crew. Vivian Vance might be the best side-kick ever. Desi and Bill added real charm. The production team had the top writers, directors, musicians, make-up, wardrobe and technical crew available.
Lucille Ball was great, but the magic of "I Love Lucy" was bigger than her alone. That's why the later shows weren't as popular.
drewfussclass101 07-02-2007, 12:14 AM i love her other shows prob. in the order that they were created. ILL TLS and HL. i love the lucy show bw years with viv. my fav. eps. is prob lucy and viv are tycoons where they are candy makers. i also like lucy ad viv put up a tv antenna CLASSIC. i recently purchased the entire ls series. i know the quality isnt as good as if it were professionaly done but just being able to see it again is good enough for me
sigmapi30 07-02-2007, 06:38 PM Thats funny Madame X. I posted on another site that I wasnt a huge Lucie fan either. Felt bad for saying it but when I watch HL I am anxious for her parts to be over. I think its because of the tone of her voice. I dont know.
Desi Jr didnt bother me at all.
treky 07-03-2007, 01:06 AM I like ILL and TLS. HL wasOK not good but not bad either (at least; from what I remember. I haven't seen it in almost 30 years)
LIFE WITH LUCY was AWFUL!!!
Gotta add my two cents here too. I think the main problem with TLS and HL was the kids in both shows. None of them could act! I like the early TLS because of Viv, and Gale Gordon was good with Lucy, but all the kids were awful!
comedyfreak 07-04-2007, 05:16 AM I loved all of Lucy's shows, each were funny and entertaining. Life With Lucy could have been alot better than it was, but I stll liked it although not as much as Lucy's previous shows.
In our house in the 60's and early 70's we just automatically watched Lucy, in TLS and then in HL. To be honest, I think I liked the 'newer' Lucy shows better than ILL for years there; and that can't be fully attributed to color, since we got our first color set in 1966 (I was 7 then). I think it was into the 70's when I realized I had seen every ILL episode, as they were on daily on an independent station at 5 p.m., that I began to really appreciate the writing of ILL and the different individual talents of the actors. It seems hard to believe that after 30 years, more dinky UHF stations showing it, and finally TVLand, it's still just that way. As for TLS and HL, they just seemed to fade; even when they have been on in syndication I have seldom been inclined to watch them. And I never saw Life with Lucy; it would seem some of y'all would say I didn't miss anything. But ILL, with me, just goes on and on. The show being so "dated" actually increases my interest, if anything.

lizphor 07-12-2007, 10:37 AM I am new to this group. I agree that my only favorite is ILL. I have lost Season 3, Disk 1 DVD-- is there a cheaper way for me to buy this one disk instead of the whole series. Any suggestions?

The package art looks great, I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully they'll include the ILL movie.
catlover79 08-09-2007, 01:18 AM I've never seen any of Lucy's other shows. We never had cable and I don't know if any of the later shows exist on DVD/VHS. My mom remembered watching Life with Lucy and said it was an AWFUL show. I never saw it, so I can't comment. I would very much like to see Life With Lucy/Here's Lucy, especially the Vivian Vance era.

WHAT ILL movie? I didn't know there was one!

OH Nuts! 08-31-2007, 11:08 AM I do. But I Love Lucy was so truly groundbreaking, on so many different levels, that, at least to me, it stands above her other works. I am fond of Here's Lucy and The Lucy Show. (What an amazing comedienne and beauty! I always thought Desi was nuts for cheating on her. I'm glad she had a really good 2nd marriage with a man with the good sense to appreciate her.) What a lady, and what an icon.
sigmapi30 10-06-2007, 05:56 PM I hope all Lucy fans are emailing/writing Paramount requesting the season set releases of The Lucy Show. And if you haven't registered your vote at www.tvshowsondvd.com, please do so.
I am anxious for some new Lucy material. It's been so long since I've seen any episodes of TLS. I am sure I haven't seen them all.
