I was at Wal-Mart waiting to get my oil changed earlier today, and I decided to browse through the electronics section. As I was looking through the MP3 audio players, I considered finally purchasing one instead of burning so many CDs and getting scratched. I told myself, "Why not?" I found a 2GB RCA for $69.86! It has a 15-hour battery life. I thought that was a decent price, and I like how it's a well-known company (it being RCA) instead of those cheap name brands that I don't trust.

My question is - does anyone own this MP3 audio player? Is it worth it? I have NOT opened up the package yet just in case I get a different recommendation and need to return it or something.

Any advice to MP3 audio players? Can it be cheaper elsewhere? I thought I'd purchase it ASAP because I will be in Las Vegas for a friend's wedding in two weeks.

I don't have any info regarding that MP3 player.

But I do agree, owning an Ipod is the best investment. No more burning CD's, no more having to pop them into the car stereo player, it comes in handy for me for when I am shopping with my son. I downloaded some stuff for him like Spongebob Squarepants episodes and he is quiet the whole time I am shopping.

Have you tried searching the internet to get some info on that MP3 player?

Thanks for your input, Irene.

I haven't looked around online before browsing through Wal-Mart because it was a spur-of-the-moment decision.

Shortly after creating this thread, I did remember that I had a $10 off coupon for anything over $40 for Radio Shack. I then looked on their website to see if they had the same camera. They didn't have any RCA MP3 players. However, I think I might browse through what they have to see if I can find a similar one.

Anyone else has any suggestions?

It's RCA, so it's a quality brand, 2GB is a lot; I think it's a good deal, but next time, I'd research a little more. :)

I have an iPod, just because I'm an entertainment freak and have 16.7 gigs of songs and endless TV shows and movies on it.

If you're looking for just basic music, a lower gig is good for you.

Just wanted to send out an update, since I have had this email notification reply stored in my mailbox from a couple of weeks ago. My RCA is working quite nicely! It certainly is nice to have a ton of songs shuffling around while I am walking and working out. The physical size is such a plus! :D

Glad to know you found what you wanted.

I was so confused abt the different iPods and what they offer, etc. I asked my girls and they told me the differences. After buying them each their own video/music iPod by Apple, I soon discovered that is what I wanted. I figured, if I was going to own an iPod, I want the bigger one. I got one for Mother's Day and I thoroughly enjoy it. It is nice to watch videos when waiting at an appointment or like I said above, to entertain my five year old when I am shopping or running errands. He watches videos in the car while I drive.

Enjoy your player.

Thanks, Irene. :D Hehe...that's cute about your five-year-old! Technology can be a curse and a blessing at the same time.

Awww...I'm sorry to hear about your MP3 player, coffield3.
