It was hinted at one point that Marvel was looking at creating a new Nick Fury movie based on the Ultimate storyline. This would have had two benefits. One, it would have removed that horrid aftertaste from the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury telefilm. Secondly, it would have made the role ripe for Samuel L. Jackson, who apparently was the model the artists used when they created the Ultimate version of the character.
Well, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson may very well still be playing Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D., although not in his own movie – at least not yet. According to an AICN Exclusive, Jackson as Fury is filming scenes for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. Not “may be shooting” but “shooting,” as in today.
Moriarty goes on to suggest that the plan would be to have Fury popping into other movies as well, creating a sense of that larger Marvel Universe we’re used to. This might also help create the right setup for that Avengers movie that’s being tossed around. Fury would be the uniting force and, following the Ultimates storyline, would be the catalyst that assembles the Avengers for the first time.
