View Full Version : What are the best and the worst movies based on TV shows that you've seen? treky 06-21-2007, 02:45 AM for me; the best was STARSKY & HUTCH, and the worst was THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES. comedyfreak 06-21-2007, 05:10 AM For me; the best was The Brady Bunch movie and sequel. The worst for me was Lost In Space, Beverly hillbilllies, and McHale's Navy. eltonfan80 06-21-2007, 07:39 AM best: starsky and hutch worst: dukes of hazzard gidgetgrape 06-21-2007, 10:03 AM The only one I've ever liked is The Brady Bunch Movie. It was so clever and the perfect mixture of old and new. Cactus Jack 06-21-2007, 11:47 AM Best :Starsky and Hutch and would South Park Bigger,Longer and Uncut count here too? Wost: Hmm not sure Mikado 06-21-2007, 12:33 PM Brady Bunch wasnt bad....the rest all pretty much bite.....Ill probably see the Get Smart movie but, i cant imagine anyone being able to fill Don Adams Shoe-phones dandelion wine 06-21-2007, 02:09 PM I haven't seen Starsky and Hutch, Bewitched or The Dukes of Hazzard and while it wasn't horrible, I guess I'll go with Miami Vice. For best? The Brady Bunch Cactus Jack 06-21-2007, 02:11 PM I haven't seen Starsky and Hutch, Bewitched or The Dukes of Hazzard and while it wasn't horrible, I guess I'll go with Miami Vice. For best? The Brady Bunch Miami Vice WAS horrible, no theme, not enough action, no openign credits it was good, but I was basically like WTF? that whole thing catlover79 06-21-2007, 02:24 PM I too will vote best as The Brady Bunch Movie because it was mostly a parody. It was fresh and retro at the same time. I was seriously disappointed in the Bewitched movie, as you might imagine. I mostly steer clear of old TV shows turning into movies. I can only imagine how bad the Welcome Back Kotter movie will be. *shudders* dandelion wine 06-21-2007, 02:41 PM Miami Vice WAS horrible, no theme, not enough action, no openign credits it was good, but I was basically like WTF? that whole thing With Miami Vice, they should've just left it at Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas. I couldn't get into it.. and I really wanted to! :( dandelion wine 06-21-2007, 02:46 PM I too will vote best as The Brady Bunch Movie because it was mostly a parody. It was fresh and retro at the same time. I was seriously disappointed in the Bewitched movie, as you might imagine. I mostly steer clear of old TV shows turning into movies. I can only imagine how bad the Welcome Back Kotter movie will be. *shudders* Ugh, that blows. Yeah, I can imagine you being disappointed with it. I remember the previews.. those alone had me going, "ohno:" Since they keep turning even the dramas into silly comedies, I'm not holding my breath for Welcome Back, Kotter - even though it wasn't exactly a drama. I'm gonna go ahead and add The Beverly Hillbillies to my Worst Seen list. catlover79 06-21-2007, 03:16 PM ^ I've never seen The Beverly Hillbillies Movie or the Miami Vice movie, and have never had a desire to. waichingliu81 06-21-2007, 03:44 PM is anyone looking forward to the forthcoming A-team movie? catlover79 06-21-2007, 03:46 PM is anyone looking forward to the forthcoming A-team movie? HECK NO! waichingliu81 06-21-2007, 03:57 PM the worst- the beverly hillbillies, charlie's angels 1 and 2, wild, wild west, the flintstones, the avengers, scooby doo, inspector gadget, thunderbirds, the incredible hulk, popeye the best- wayne's world, naked gun, rugrats i couldn't care less about miami vice, dukes of hazard- i've never watched them and yet i have no intention or interest in watching them, ever catlover79 06-21-2007, 04:04 PM I also liked Wayne's World; never saw the sequel. Cactus Jack 06-21-2007, 04:14 PM I also liked Wayne's World; never saw the sequel. I love both, first is better Mr. Television 06-21-2007, 05:31 PM I haven't seen Starsky and Hutch, Bewitched or The Dukes of Hazzard and while it wasn't horrible, I guess I'll go with Miami Vice. For best? The Brady Bunch I haven't seen any of them either and I don't want to. Are you looking forward to the theatrical release of Dallas if it ever happens? I think the best one was The Fugitive and the worst that I actually saw was The Hulk. Nighthawk76 06-21-2007, 06:49 PM The best: Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan and The Untochables The worst: Charlie's Angels...as if the television show wasn't bad enough itself. catlover79 06-21-2007, 07:41 PM The best: Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan and The Untochables The worst: Charlie's Angels...as if the television show wasn't bad enough itself. Thank you, Mike, that was what I was thinking - Charlie's Angels was one putrid, horrible flick. I DID like the TV reruns as a girl, but seeing them as an adult now - they are INCREDIBLY cheesy. GARFIELDKOOL 06-21-2007, 08:17 PM I can't tell anyone what was the best, because they all look cheesy, but the worse had to be the 2003 version of "The Hulk" Man, I was so disappointed in that movie. That was a disgrace to the TV series. Nighthawk76 06-21-2007, 10:33 PM Thank you, Mike, that was what I was thinking - Charlie's Angels was one putrid, horrible flick. I DID like the TV reruns as a girl, but seeing them as an adult now - they are INCREDIBLY cheesy. Anytime, Monika. catlover79 06-21-2007, 10:36 PM ^ I refuse to watch the Charlie's Angels sequel - it was a total box office flop in 2003. GOOD!! :p Nighthawk76 06-21-2007, 10:39 PM ^ I refuse to watch the Charlie's Angels sequel - it was a total box office flop in 2003. GOOD!! :p Oh, I know. After sitting through the terrible first one there was no way I was going to go see the second one. catlover79 06-21-2007, 10:40 PM Oh, I know. After sitting through the terrible first one there was no way I was going to go see the second one. I'd rather chew glass! puke: Nighthawk76 06-21-2007, 10:48 PM I'd rather chew glass! puke:  I'm not sure that I would go quite that far. If I made a list of the ten worst movies ever made, I would certainly put Charlie's Angels on that list. That movie was totally worthless. I remember watching it and having no idea why any of the characters were doing what they were doing. I remember Cameron Diaz's character spent half of the movie dancing for no reason at all. dandelion wine 06-21-2007, 10:52 PM I haven't seen any of them either and I don't want to. Are you looking forward to the theatrical release of Dallas if it ever happens? I think the best one was The Fugitive and the worst that I actually saw was The Hulk. Well, I can say this: after all of the possible starring actors and everything, I'm very interested to see how they'll treat the movie. Pretty sure they're gonna take jabs at it, I just hope it isn't a total waste of time. How could I have left out The Fugitive? One of the best!! waichingliu81 06-22-2007, 06:43 AM Thank you, Mike, that was what I was thinking - Charlie's Angels was one putrid, horrible flick. I DID like the TV reruns as a girl, but seeing them as an adult now - they are INCREDIBLY cheesy. it was not just so incredibly cheesy, this version was so sexed-up it took away the innocence and sassiness of the original tv series. lucy liu (no relation btw to me!), cameron diaz and drew barrymore were woeful. all they did was strut around wearing skimpy clothing. the way they dressed suggested they looked like whores. and as for demi moore and bernie mac starring in the sequel, oh pur-lease. both charlie's angels movies sucked like hell Mikado 06-22-2007, 02:39 PM I'd rather chew glass! puke: Hey Catlover, what did you think of the Bewitched movie? ( I ask cause you seem to be a big fan of the show ) Mr. Television 06-22-2007, 02:50 PM I wish they wouldn't make most of these movies into spoofs. It worked with The Brady Bunch but it seems like most of these movies just make fun of the original. Way to disrespect the fans. Mr. Television 06-22-2007, 02:51 PM  Well, I can say this: after all of the possible starring actors and everything, I'm very interested to see how they'll treat the movie. Pretty sure they're gonna take jabs at it, I just hope it isn't a total waste of time. How could I have left out The Fugitive? One of the best!! I was looking forward to it at one time until I started seeing who they were going to cast. catlover79 06-22-2007, 03:42 PM Hey Catlover, what did you think of the Bewitched movie? ( I ask cause you seem to be a big fan of the show ) Disappointed - but nothing could ever come close to being as good as the TV show! ;) dandelion wine 06-23-2007, 04:10 PM I wish they wouldn't make most of these movies into spoofs. It worked with The Brady Bunch but it seems like most of these movies just make fun of the original. Way to disrespect the fans. Ugh.. me too, Sonny. ohno: Tom Selleck was on Conan one night. They were talking about a Magnum movie and Tom's like, "I don't care how much money they offer me, I'm not doing it. Magnum's got a lot of fans, they all love the show and remember it a certain way. It needs to be treated with respect, not made fun of." David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser's little nod to Starsky and Hutch were touched upon as well, I think, and he thought that was fine but he wasn't interested in doing that. It's great if they've got a sense of humor about their part in the show, ya know.. not taking themselves too seriously or whatever, but when it turns into a case of just making fun of it, I don't like that either. Sure The Dukes of Hazzard was silly and cheesy, and while I haven't seen the movie nor should I really even comment, I suppose, there are people who haven't seen the original - just like there are people who haven't seen Dallas; it's really gonna stink if they make the movie just to do a parody and the audience is like, "Is this what people were watching?" dandelion wine 06-23-2007, 04:12 PM I was looking forward to it at one time until I started seeing who they were going to cast.  And you know they're really gonna tear into the accents. It'll be funny but good grief. Mikado 06-23-2007, 07:33 PM Disappointed - but nothing could ever come close to being as good as the TV show! ;) Well, the Dick York years were great........after that........ Mikado 06-23-2007, 07:35 PM Sure The Dukes of Hazzard was silly and cheesy, and while I haven't seen the movie nor should I really even comment, I suppose, there are people who haven't seen the original - just like there are people who haven't seen Dallas; it's really gonna stink if they make the movie just to do a parody and the audience is like, "Is this what people were watching?" HAHAHAHA  I never thought of it like that ! catlover79 06-23-2007, 11:18 PM Well, the Dick York years were great........after that........ So true. I did not care too much for the Sargent era (with no disrespect to the man). Once Season 5 comes to DVD in a couple of weeks, that'll be it for me. Zebra 3 06-25-2007, 04:03 PM Best - Batman ('66), Star Trek series, Trailer Park Boys ('06), The Naked Gun series and Wayne's World ('92) Worst - The Beverly Hillbillies ('93), Charlie's Angels ('00), Hulk ('03), Starsky & Hutch ('04) and SWAT ('03) mrs.gingerhinkley 07-04-2007, 05:41 PM Best: none of them ever seem to turn out good.... Worst: DUKES OF HAZZARD!!! %T*()(U#)$*# wut an insult to Catherine Bach (Simpson as Daisy) and a skinny Boss Hogg?! makes me sick.... Beverly Hillbillies was a terrible insult to the show... but confidentially... i thought it was kinda funny... still, terrible thing to do to such an awesome show. i hope the GI movie idea never sells... *Shudder* PlayOn 07-06-2007, 04:33 PM worst: The Dukes of Hazzard. I felt like they were making fun of the show. As well as The Beverly Hillbillies. Favorite: Rugrats, all the Batmans, all the Spidermans (altho I haven't sat down and fully watched them and have yet to see part 3) Tubehead 07-06-2007, 08:18 PM I liked lost in space. I also liked ninja turtles and master of the univser the old he-man movie. The hulk movie wasn't about the tv show it was from the comic book not the old tv show with billy bixy. I read that new hulk is going to be like the old tv show. |
