Vera was soooo dingy here (what else is new  ) she was too dingy if she had no idea where turkeys came from... She works in a restaurant for God's sake.

Anyone catch Philip McKeon's (Tommy) real-life sister Nancy in this episode?

Is this the one where she sets them free? That episode pissed me off. She should've been fired.

Nancy McKeon must've matured a lot between this and "Facts of Life". It's hard to think that her portrayal of Jo was just 2 years later!

I could tell it is Nancy McKeon.

The white kid looked familiar as well, but I could not figure out from what show.

There was a Corey Feldman listed in the credits. Same one?

Yep, that was a very young Corey Feldman (the kid that said turkey was for the birds...assuming ION didn't cut that part out...my tape ran out near the end of the episode).
Another thing, I don't remember seeing that scene with Vera talking to all the turkeys in the storeroom. I think that part was cut out on both E! and TNN.

Yes, I did catch that. I also saw the little Black boy sitting way at the end of the table who was on Good Times. He played the little boy who couldn't hear well and Florida was trying to get him some help, but his mother was very disagreeable.

YES, I was thinking that too! The Thanksgiving Episode was good (still have it on my TiVo.) That was cool that they had the siblings on the show. I thought Tommy got a little over dramatic with his "Quiet, my mom is talking" (whatever he said), hehe, but it was good.

As a huge FOL fan, I recognized Nancy right away. She was so SMALL! lol Like SammyReed said, she grew up a LOT in the next 2 years by the time she debuted as Jo on FOL.

I wondered if the "Turkeys are for the birds!" kid was familiar or not, and now I can totally see it's Corey. Wow, lol.

Also, did anyone notice the news reporter? She was Joyce Bullifant, the first choice for Carol on "The Brady Bunch", and Murray's wife Marie on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

agmfox, Alice was gonna have Flo and Vera over to Thanksgiving dinner with some homeless kids, but Mel made them work because he got a steal on some turkeys and was gonna "clean up" at the diner by chargin' 5 bucks per meal, the cheapest in town (that's how much each turkey was). He allowed the kids to eat at the diner instead of Alice's since the waitresses would work.

Well, when the turkeys were delivered, they were live turkeys, lol. Vera let them go, Mel got a plastic turkey and was gonna fool the kids with chicken instead, but the news came by and it was a live story and the plastic turkey broke when he dropped it. Then Alice told the kids they have to learn to deal with disappointments in life, asked them what they'd like instead, and they said chili dogs. Tommy assured his mom that any normal kid would pick chili dogs over turkey in a nutshell. So, happy ending, yay. lol (that's it in a nutshell)

Yup, he was the first person I noticed.

And the guy selling the turkeys was the gangster who gave the Sanfords the tickets & the suitcase in the Hawaii episodes.

Yes, that was James Cromwell. He was nominated for an Academy Award.

He also played Stretch Cunningham a few times on All in the Family (among many other TV guest appearances), and most recently played Philip Bauer (Jack's father) on 24.
