I know this is something I should probably know but have their been any t.v. series created based on a book? I assume their is but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Christy by Catherine Marshall is a great novel (written in 1967), and was adapted into a short-lived 1994-95 series on CBS. The show starred Kellie Martin, Tyne Daly and Tess Harper. PAX briefly revived Christy with 3 TV movies in 2001.

Logan's Run was based on a book. After the movie became a hit, CBS (?) aired a short-lived series.

I might be wrong, but I believe "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" was based off of a book, or book series. I have one of the books, I believe it came before the show.

Roswell was based on the book series "Roswell High."

And the upcoming CW show "Gossip Girl" is based on a book too.

I didn't know "Sex in the City" was based on a book. Interesting. Actually the only ones I knew were based on books were Hardy Boys, Gossip Girl and Little House on the Prairie.

Star trek was based on a series of books written by Gene Roddenberry.

Dude, you're making that up. The books came AFTER the series. If you know anything about this series, you know that Gene pitched it to the network as "Wagon Train in space." There were no books, and he created the series from nothing but his own brain.

On the other hand:

Spenser: For Hire and by extrapolation A Man Called Hawk are based on the Spenser mystery novels by Robert Parker.
The Ellery Queen Mysteries are based on the book series of the same name.
Dave's World is based on the writings of humorist Dave Barry.
The Dresden Files is based on a supernatural mystery book series.

The Baby-Sitters Club was a popular series of books for young girls in the 1980's and 1990's and gave life to a tv show of the same name that aired the Disney Channel and was released direct to video in the 1990's as well.

I know it isn't a book, but 227 was based off of the screenplay "227," which was later adapted into the TV show. Just a bit of trivia for you guys :D

Not a big deal, Jim. I get a bit 'overenthusiastic' about things sometimes. :D
