Linda Lavin worked that dress to show her sexiness. When on the show they allow her to wear dresses like that she looks quite attractive especially when they show her legs. I always thought Linda Lavin is an attractive actress especially from season 3 on she spruced up her looks quite a bit and not so plain looking as she was in the first two seasons.

You would see Linda wearing that dress again in season 4 episode 92 and she definitely looked more better in that dress and her hair a longer and done up.
