One minute, Mel is depressed that he doesn't have a family and the next, he is in love with Alice. What the heck did I miss?!?

Alice invites Mel over for dinner, and he sort of "falls in love" with her and having her and Tommy as a family. I believe it's supposed to be implied that he came over a few times before he comes over when she's getting ready for a date (with Ted)

i saw that episode it was 2 short i expected more out of it u know dont know if scenes cut out or not but it was 2 short n episode my favorite scene was.when mel said

mel when i die im going close the diner and he leaves vera says

i think if mel dies we schould close the diner lol
