View Full Version : What was worst about Mr. Kotter's Jokes, the joke itself or............... TVFactFan 06-17-2007, 08:36 PM Mrs. Kotter reaction to the ununny sh*T?-lol Sitting laughing at how the actress did a poor job in pretending to be amused by his jokes which meant the writing of the jokes were awful-lol dlemond 06-17-2007, 08:43 PM Mrs. Kotter reaction to the ununny sh*T?-lol Sitting laughing at how the actress did a poor job in pretending to be amused by his jokes which meant the writing of the jokes were awful-lol I think the whole point was Julie' anticipation of how bad the joke's pun was and her laughing at that fact. I alway thought it was pretty much a given the joke was going to be lame. Kotters smirk afterward was not for a victory with a funny joke, but for getting a unpredictable bad pun out that Julie didn't see coming. AB 06-17-2007, 09:06 PM He had some pretty terrible jokes but they had a "I Got You" quality to them. He kind of reminds me of Groucho Marx. Brian Damage 06-17-2007, 10:43 PM I think they were meant to be purposefully bad. TVFactFan 06-17-2007, 10:49 PM I think they were meant to be purposefully bad. I just wish the show could have had regular TAG scenes Brian Damage 06-17-2007, 11:02 PM I just wish the show could have had regular TAG scenes I agree with you. It was unnecessary to have the "Bad Joke Of The Week" endings. catlover79 06-17-2007, 11:07 PM I think they were meant to be purposefully bad. :yeahthat TVFactFan 06-17-2007, 11:21 PM I agree with you. It was unnecessary to have the "Bad Joke Of The Week" endings. The Teaser and Tag of every ep was just TOO MUCH Skywalker 06-18-2007, 08:42 PM I actually liked Mr. Kotter's jokes. Yeah, they were corny, but in a funny sort of way. Occasionally he had a very funny joke. I forget the name of the episode, but he was telling his wife about a singing telegram and all of the sudden he starts singing "your sister rose is dead...". I thought that was hilarious. Tiger32 06-19-2007, 12:05 AM I think Mr. Kotter was the coolest teacher ever! His Jokes were not funny to me but the way he interacted with his students was very funny. I wish I had a teacher like that growing up. Ireneparalegal 06-19-2007, 12:09 AM I agree with you. It was unnecessary to have the "Bad Joke Of The Week" endings. Looking back on it now, it sure seems unnecessary. Back then, I couldn't wait to hear the "bad joke" of the week. FredScuttle 06-29-2007, 06:55 AM I actually liked Mr. Kotter's jokes. Yeah, they were corny, but in a funny sort of way. Yeah, that was one of my favorite ones. I wish I could remember it (I used to know it, but it's been so many years since I've heard it, I can't remember it anymore) Looks like we got alot of the same people replying to this thread that are also on the Alice board...I guess a bunch of us like the same shows :) TVFactFan 06-29-2007, 05:51 PM Looking back on it now, it sure seems unnecessary. I liked hearing about his strange Uncles and Aunts. It made you want to meet them, especially Uncle Max, LOL. TJL 07-05-2007, 11:41 PM I liked Kotter's jokes. They were a throwback to the style of nightclub comedy that Kaplan loved and performed. The fact that everybody hated whenever he told one made it even funnier. |
