I did the ION rant the first day I got my own office about 3 weeks ago and was just able to really do it without any interruptions-lol

It was a good rant. The sloppiness of the programming just seems extremely unprofessional to me.

Excellent Rant again Solomon. As if the poor editing and picture quality aren't enough they keep adding and subtracting shows at a moments notice too. You really can't enjoy watching anything on that channel.

I agree. Whats with the way they end The Wonder Years? they show a bit of the credits, then show the production things that should be last, then more credits. This is one ODD network.

It was a great way to show how unprofessional the network is, and the long way it hast co come before it gets everyone's attention. But, you didn't put any of the good things the network has to offer uss, and its future. What about the hard to find classic shows they are airing or have aired in the past, like Alice, The Wonder Years, and Who's the Boss?

But still, good rant.

That rant was right on the money Solomon! I very rarely tune into Alice or any of their shows because of the editing and the deal with the commercial breaks.

When I first found out that I would be able to watch Alice again. I was thrilled but that quickly disappeared when I started watching it on ION.

If they're not going to do it right, then they shouldn't have bothered to do it at all as you say. They should just stick to paid programming.

I didn't even know they were still on the air. Since Green Acres was dropped, I haven't been back to the channel. They did a horrible job with Green Acres. They sped up the theme song so bad. Commercials...more commercials, more often on ION TV. That's the biggest downfall of the channel. A commercial every couple of minutes. I watched a movie when they started running movies and we turned it off after about a half hour. Sound quality is a big problem with the channel. The shows are so quiet and then the commercials come on and you have to adjust. That's annoying. Until they start running decent shows more than 1 hour a day, they fail miserably. Until they fix the technical issues, they fail miserably. Until they learn how to edit a show, they fail miserably. The bottom line...THEY FAIL MISERABLY!!!!!!

ION is for peons!!

Watch RTN instead, if you're lucky enough to get it. If not, wait about 3 more weeks.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this week's rant... Yes, there are editing and quality issues with ION's shows and it does suck that they pull shows off before they've even made a full rotation, but they are still showing some classic TV including things that haven't been seen in a long time or were treated like garbage when they were on N@N for example (Who's the Boss?). We should be grateful there is a network that shows some classics (remember their Christmas episodes month? that was great!) I feel like some of these complainers deserve no classic TV anywhere on tv stations because nothing will satisfy them. As much as we like to think back to the "good old days" of TVL or N@N, they certainly had their whiners and complainers then too so show decisions, etc are never gonna please everyone. Just my opinion..

I understand wht you're saying but why is it that all of us classic tv lovers got to settle for sub-par broadcasts? They have TV Networks for everything nowadays but everytime we get a network we get screwed. Either they change the format or we get sub-par broadcasting like ION gives us. All we want is a channel that celebrates classic TV and acts like it loves those shows just like we do.

As for what Walking Tall said - that does make a lot of sense, it'd be amazing if there was a classic TV channel that really celebrated classic TV and wasn't subpar broadcasting - I think N@N and TV Land used to do that (but my one point was that ppl were complaining about those networks even then cuz they didn't air this show or that show or aired a show too much)

I guess it would be cool if we knew that ION would atleast show every season of a show ONE TIME. It's so many more eps of Alice I wanted to see and now won't get that opportunity

One other problem with ION: they must have a couple oflousy DVD players int their equipment chains. Many times, the video will jump horribly, and sometimes so badly that the picture totally goes away (on my TV it 'blues out').

I am also not that pleased with ION's rendition of Mama's Family. When they first aired it, it was fine; Act I, commercial, Act II, commercial, Act III, commercial, and finally some form of credits. Once they finished the first run, the network for some reason installed new and bizarre cuts. It drives me nuts!

The interesting thing about the poor commercial placement: it's still the same 20-21 minutes of program. It probably comes from Warners as a syndication print already, so it's already edited.

So why they effort to spoil the airing? It seems the only reason is to place a commercial near the end.

Another annoying thing: they seem to have only one or 2 promos for Wonder Years. It makes me sick of that Joe Cocker song. I've heard it 50 million times!

But I will echo the same positive note other have: I'd rather see a butchered Alice than no Alice at all (but it seems soon it will be no Alice at all!)
