I was reading the episode guide and noticed that Jon isn't listed in the last season and Pounch is working with a guy name Bobby.Did Wilcox quit when Season 6 started?I don't remember much about that season.

I don't know what happened to Jon, but in the reunion movie CHiPS '99, he was there with Ponch, Bruce and all the rest like nothing had ever happened.

Yes, Larry quit-he was tired of the studio politics. They pretty much ignored Jon's absence in the 6th season except for a 3 second scene where Joe Getraer tells them a postcard came from Jon and he is thinking of them all as he works on his dad's ranch in Wyoming.

Don't get me started on the mess that was the CHiPs 99 script! LOL!

I remember being surprised that Larry Wilcox was THISCLOSE to nabbing the role of Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice, only to lose out to Don Johnson. I wonder what the show would've been like had Larry Wilcox starred on MV.

Barry was back, Bonnie was mentioned, Jon is in a leadership position, no Hot Dog. All very plausible if not for that pesky Season 6. If you go by the last season it seemed like Ponch was gonna be the CHiPs lifer and Jon would be the one returning to service after leaving for Wyoming.

Other than the inclusion of Bruce in the movie, it was like the final season of the TV series never happened.
