I unfortunately have not seen the E! True Hollywood Story on Gimme a Break!. Were there any major or exciting things that came out about the show? Was there anything negative like a lot of other shows, or was everyone happy? I just basically want to know if we learned a lot of new and interesting behind-the-scenes info. Does anyone know how I could obtain a copy of this program?

The only thing I recalled watching on there was that Fred Silverman (who was in charge of NBC shortly before he got ousted and replaced by Brandon Tartikoff) once said that "This show was a big headache and that Gimme a Break! was the worst show he ever green-lighted!"

I don't remember Fred Silverman saying that. I remember him saying that the show was "a hit. We have a show here!". I don't remember him ever saying anything about the show being a big headache, unless he said it in another interview. What I remember from the GAB E! True Hollywood Story was that they used Nell's footage from past interviews when talking about her drug problems and other things about her life. They mentioned that in the 4th season, the producers offered to write Dolph Sweet out of the show due to his illness, but Mr. Sweet insisted on working because it gave him something to focus on. They also mentioned how sad everyone was about his passing and that Nell was at Dolph Sweet's bedside when he passed away. She delivered the eulogy at his memorial service. Hardly anything was mentioned about Joey other than the fact that he usurped Lara Jill Miller's position as the baby of the family. Joey did not even participate in the E! True Hollywood Story for GAB!. The only people who were interviewed for the show were, Producers Sy Rosen and Mort Lachman, Fred Silverman, another guy from NBC (unfortunately, I forgot his name offhand), Kari Michaelsen, Lauri Hendler, Lara Jill Miller, Telma Hopkins, Debbie Allen, and Nell's Rabbi and Hal Cooper and a couple of other producers from the show as well as a producer from the last musical that Nell was rehearsing for before her passing. I hope I'm not forgetting anybody. Joey's brother, Matthew, Jonathan Silverman, and Rosie O'Donnell were mentioned very briefly. Pete Schrum (Uncle Ed), Howard Morton (Officer Simpson), and John Hoyt (Grandpa) were not mentioned at all, which I thought was a little disappointing. I was also a little disappointed that Joey did not participate in the E! True Hollywood Story for GAB!. The show was only an hour long. Other than that, I thought that the E! True Hollywood Story of GAB! was nicely done.
