Hi,
I'm new here. Never watched FOL before N@N. Evidently my Mom hated the show and she controlled the remote at that time in my life (I was 7 when FOL went off) so this is the first time around on this show and I love it. I love fanfic also, I've been reading General Hospital FanFic for over a year but this is the first time I've ever had the nerve to write one. Hope you all like it. Let me know please if I should write more or if I've done enough damage!

Note: I am a big fan of General Hospital, set in Port Charles, NY. Since Peekskill doesn’t appear to be big enough to have a hospital, pretend both towns are next to each other. They’re both fictional, set in upstate NY! This also gives me the chance to mix a couple of my favorite shows.
All the girls are coming in from class. Natalie, Tootie, and Blair are discussing the latest gossip. Mrs. Garret examines the latest menu. Jo comes trailing in.
Tootie: And then Susan got up and said…
Blair: Can you actually believe that she would admit to that?
Natalie: Blair, let her finish, I haven’t heard this yet.
Jo: Will you three do this somewhere else? Who cares what Susan did last night?
Blair: Come ‘on Jo, you usually play along with us, at least to some extent.
Jo: Well, I don’t feel like it. Give it a rest.
Blair: You’ve haven’t felt like anything today. Mr. Brown had to pry answers out of you in English, you were completely despondent in history.
Mrs. G: Jo, are you feeling OK? You look a little flushed.
Jo: Why doesn’t everybody just mind their own business. I’m just tired. A lots been going on lately. I feel fine, lay off!
Mrs. G: (Comes up to Jo and puts her hand on her forehead.) If you’re feeling fine, then how come you have a fever?
Jo: OK, maybe I haven’t been feeling well. I just need some rest.
Mrs. G: Maybe you should go upstairs and take a nap. We’ll handle everything down here.
Blair: Yea, Jo, we don’t want you to get us sick.
Jo: I’ll keep that in mind, Blair.
Jo goes upstairs. Girls and Mrs. G stay downstairs and prepare dinner.
Mrs. G: Here Natalie, Go run this up to Jo and see if she wants to eat. (Hands Natalie a tray with soup and bread.
Natalie: OK, I think I finished up my stuff down here anyway. (Nat takes tray up to Jo. Jo is laying on her bed, starring at the ceiling. Natalie enters the room.)
Natalie: Here Jo, Mrs. Garret sent up some food for you.
Jo: Natalie, How much doctor stuff do you know from your Dad?
Natalie: Depends on what you want to know…..
Jo: My left side hurts bad. It’s hurt all day.
Natalie: We need to get you to the hospital. Ever heard of appendicitis?
Jo: Yeah, I just didn’t know which side hurt when you had appendicitis.
Natalie: We really need to get you to a hospital. I’m going to go get Mrs. G. Just calm down. (Natalie races down to the kitchen)
Natalie: Mrs. Garret, Mrs. Garret!
Mrs. G: Natalie, Is something wrong with Jo? Tell me now!
Natalie: Her left side is hurting and she’s hotter then what she was earlier. We need to get her to a hospital.
Blair: Is it appendicitis?
Natalie: (Looks over to Blair) I think so, she doesn’t look good Mrs. G. We need to get her to the hospital.
Mrs. G. OK, I’m going to get her ready to go, you three put the food away, and Blair get the car. We need to take her to General Hospital in Port Charles. That’s the closest hospital.
The girls race around trying to finish putting the food away.
Blair: I never wished anything like this to happen to Jo.
Tootie: Quit thinking about yourself, we have to get her to GH before she gets any worse.
Mrs. G is in the girl’s room. Jo is still in bed looking even worse then when Natalie left.
Mrs. G: Oh Jo, why didn’t you say how bad you felt.
Jo: I thought it was nothing and I didn’t want to worry you.
Mrs. G: We don’t have time for this, We need to get you to General Hospital.
Jo: Can you help me? This pain is really bad.
Mrs. G: Try standing up and then you can lean on me and we should be able to manage it to the car.
Jo: Here goes nothing
Jo gets up and she and Mrs. G slowly make it down to the kitchen. The girls have finished the kitchen and Blair is pulling up the car.
Mrs. G: OK girls, I’m taking Jo, you all hold down the fort.
Tootie: No, Mrs. Garrett! We need to go and be there for Jo
Jo: Tootie, just stay here, you can’t do anything at the hospital.
Blair: WE ARE GOING WITH YOU, now come ‘on, I’m driving.
Mrs. G: Fine, I’m not arguing with you all. We don’t have time. Natalie help me with Jo, Blair you are NOT driving.
They make it out to car and everyone gets in. Jo is in and out of it through out the car ride. Everyone is trying to keep her awake. They finally arrive at GH. Mrs. G pulls up to the Emergency Entrance. Natalie and Tootie run in.
Natalie and Tootie: Help! Help! Our friend needs help.
Dr. Monica Quartermaine hears them yelling and comes running over.
Dr. Q: What’s the problem?
Natalie: (speaking rushed, out of breath) Our friend Jo, we go to Eastland in Peekskill, has appendicitis, she’s still in the car. She’s really sick.
Dr. Q: Ok, calm down. Bobbie-get a wheelchair and come out here!
Bobbie: I’m coming. What’s going on.
Dr. Q: We have a girl from Eastland with appendicitis.
They reach outside where Jo is slightly coherent.
Jo: Are we here yet?
Mrs. G: Yes, Natalie and Tootie went to find someone.
Dr. Q: Hello, my name’s Dr. Quartermaine. What is your name?
Jo: It’s Jo (whispering)
Dr. Q: Bobbie, get that wheelchair here and let’s get Jo in it.
They manage to ease Jo into the wheelchair and start to take her inside.
Mrs. G: Blair, Move the car!
Blair: OK Mrs. Garrett.
Everyone else follows them inside while Blair moves the car. They take Jo into an exam room, but Dr. Q keeps Mrs. G and the girls out. Blair comes back in. There’s still no word from Dr. Q.
Exam Room
They move Jo to a bed.
Dr. Q: Bobbie, take her temperature. Jo, I need you to talk to me about the pain. We can’t help you until we know where it hurts.
Jo nods her head.
Bobbie: 102.1 Monica
Dr. Q: Have you had anything to eat today, Jo?
Jo: Just some milk this morning, I didn’t feel good all day.
Dr. Q: Bobbie, let’s start a line of fluids. She’s going to dehydrate soon. Jo, I want you to tell me where it hurts most O.K.
Dr. Q gently feels around Jo’s side, when she reaches the appendix Jo lets out a scream.
Dr. Q: Bobbie, call up to the OR and have them prepare a room. We’re going now. She can’t wait any longer. Jo, we’re going to have to take your appendix out. I would like to wait a little longer because of your high fever, but you can’t afford it.
Jo: Can I see Mrs. G first?
Dr. Q: I’m going to go outside and talk to them while Bobbie preps you for surgery.
Dr. Q goes outside to the waiting area.
Mrs. G: How is she, can we see her, please?
Dr. Q: Yes, you can see her in a minute. We’re prepping her for surgery. She does have appendicitis, and a high fever. Ordinarily we would like the fever to come down, but we don’t have anytime to waste.
Mrs. G: Oh my, I really need to see her.
Mrs. G starts to go to the exam room. The girls follow.
Dr. Q: Hold on, I’m sorry but only Mrs. Garrett can go in there.
Blair: Why not. My father could buy this hospital and put you out of a job if you don’t let me see Jo.
Dr. Q: It’s hospital policy and why don’t I tell you that my family is the hospital.
Blair: I just want to see Jo.
Mrs. G: She’s knows you all care, but you need to let the doctors do their jobs. Now, go sit! (points to chairs)
Blair: I thought the name Quartermaine sounded familiar.
Tootie: What if Jo doesn’t make it. What if..
Natalie: (cutting her off) Tootie, it’s a simple operation, she’ll be fine. My dad’s done hundreds of these.
Blair: (distantly) It’s Jo. She always comes out on top.
Exam Room:
Mrs. G: Hey Jo. How are you feeling? (picks up her hand)
Jo: Oh, Mrs. G. They gave me some stuff. It’s really helping with the pain, but its making me sleepy.
Mrs. G: They’re getting ready to take you to surgery so we’re thinking about you and we’ll be here when you get out. OK.
Jo: (dozing off) Fine Mrs. G.
Mrs. G: (brushes Jo’s bangs off her forehead) Please God, let her be OK, I don’t know what I would do if I lost her.
Bobbie and Dr. Q come in.
Dr. Q: Mrs. Garrett, we need to take her up to OR now.
Mrs. G: Please do, just get her well.
Dr. Q: We’ll do everything we can.
An orderly starts to wheel Jo out while Dr. Q, Bobbie, and Mrs. G follow. The orderly stops when Blair, Natalie, and Tootie come running over.
Mrs. G: Girls, let them do their job. They need to take Jo now.
Dr. Q: A few seconds wouldn’t hurt.
Jo: (waking up slightly) What’s going on?
Blair: Jo, you’re going to be fine.
Jo: Why do I keep hearing that annoying voice?
Natalie: Forget her, just get better.
Tootie: We love you Jo.
Jo: I love you guys too……(falling back asleep)
Dr. Q: Let’s get going (nods to orderly)
Orderly starts pushing the gurney while the girls and Mrs. G stays.
Mrs. G: She’s going to be fine.
Blair: (worriedly) Of course she will be fine.
Two Hours Later
Dr. Q comes into the waiting room. Blair and Natalie are sleeping. Tootie is nodding off, Mrs. G is wide awake.
Mrs G: How is she? (The girls wake up)
Dr. Q: The surgery went well. She’s still asleep. They are moving Jo to a room now. It’s 493. We will probably keep her here for a couple days. That’s a day longer then we usually keep appendicitis patients, but with Jo’s temperature I want to monitor her a little longer. You can go see her now.
Mrs. G: Thank you, for everything. Come ‘on girls
Entering Jo’s room. She’s still asleep with an I.V. in her arm.
Mrs. G: (taking Jo’s hand) Hi Jo, we’re all here like I promised you. Why don’t you wake up.
Blair: Jo, you wake up and I’ll be nice to you for a week.. a day.. maybe a day… Jo just wake up.
Jo starts to wake up.
Tootie: Jo, there you go, come on, just a little more.
Natalie: Be quiet, she’s almost awake. Give her some time to adjust.
Jo: (eyes not open-groggy) Can’t I sleep in peace?
Mrs. G: Oh, Jo, you finally woke up, we were so worried.
Jo slowly opens her eyes and closes them due to the light, but opens them up again.
Blair: How do you feel?
Jo: I can’t really feel anything. Everything’s really cloudy.
Natalie: That’s the medication.
Tootie: Did you accompany your father to work when you’re home?
Jo: I’m glad she learned a few things from her father. Where’s my parents?
Mrs. G: I called them and they will be here when you wake up in the morning. Jo, you need your sleep. We’ll be back in the morning.
Jo: Thanks for everything tonight.
Everyone hugs Jo and leaves except Blair.
Blair: Hey, Jo, how much did you hear before you woke up?
Jo: Enough
Blair: Oh, well.. you know…
Jo: Blair, you did enough, go home.
Blair: I’m glad your better.
Jo nods off as Blair squeezes her hand and leaves the room.
