11:00 a.m., EDT and 8:00 p.m., EDT on CBS-TV, Bob Barker's well-publicized finale as host of The Price is Right. The show will return for season 36, but Bob will only be available for substitute hosting duties. Time is running real short for both Fremantle and CBS to name his successor. There are all kinds of possible successors, but because he hosted TPIR Live and took notes while attending tapings of the show, I still believe Todd Newton will be named Bob's successor(Bob will never be replaced, not by anyone). My prediction for season 36-Todd Newton hosts(he'll host the show just like he hosts TPIR Live), Rich Fields announces, the current models will still be there to present the prizes, the games will remain, the show's music might be updated, maybe even remixed, other than what I mentioned, we'll notice little difference in the possible transition of The Price is Right from Bob Barker to Todd Newton. If it's determined by both Fremantle and CBS that Todd will be Bob's successor, we as viewers need to give Todd a chance to make the show all his own and host the show his way and not attempt to duplicate Bob. Later, I'll start a thread on succession and transition in the game show industry. In the meantime, set your recorders for Bob's final TPIR telecast.

I can't believe this is it. It's just incredible... I have never seen anyone else host the show before.
:(
Usually the show starts filming for the next season BEFORE the 4th of July, so I'm expecting a delay in the start of the season(even if they announced a new host next week, but I sorta doubt that) and more repeats(maybe into October or even November), which is actually fine with me, I missed a lot of episodes this season and I plan to catch up as much as I can.

ive got my recorder and tape all ready for tommrow ive been taping his last 10 shows it sure is going to be strange seening someone else host the show to me no bob no show but i guess cbs and esp fremantle will have to learn this lesson the hard way and trust me they will esp if they pick the wrong person what they should have done was let this verison end with bob wait 2 or 3 years and then bring it back. with someone new .that is one reason that the ray combs family feud did well because of the time lapse between the dawson and combs shows if they would allow a little leeway maybe a whoe new group of fans will discover the price is right and make it ther own with ther own host tust like we did with bob and like the bill cullen fans before that .the way they .are doing it now its going to fail i yhink one thing that they have lost sight of over there at cbs and fremantle probably because is/was very very hard to work with is that most of us watching at home dont care what hes like off camrea we just know that hes the guy who has entertianed us since childhood and its going to be almost impossable to put bob out of our minds and they are probably so happy over at cbs that they will be able to have piece and quiet that they just are not looking at the big picture

The daytime airing will be a normal ending to the show but I am hearing that there will be a special ending leading into the daytime emmy awards during the primetime airing. It may not be a bad idea to record both, I will be doing that!!!

Definitely true. It's the end of one of the greatest eras in television history. Bob will definitely be missed but will never be forgotten. My DVD recorder is set for his last episode. It's a shame that Mark Goodson has been dead for 15 years. If he was still alive, he would have chosen the new host by now.
