View Full Version : Randolph Dial Dead at 63
Zoneboy 06-13-2007, 12:12 PM Randolph Dial (http://www.mcalesternews.com/local/local_story_164111140.html)
One of Oklahoma’s most notorious inmates has died.
Randolph Franklin Dial, who remained free for 11 years after escaping from the Granite State Reformatory with the wife of a deputy prison warden, was pronounced dead at 6:50 this morning, according to Oklahoma State Penitentiary spokeswoman Margaret Sexton.
Sexton said the 63-year-old inmate had been housed in the prison infirmary due to ongoing health issues. She declined to say what those issues were but said Dial had not suffered any type of violent attack while housed at OSP.
Dial was arrested in 2005 on an east Texas chicken ranch after spending more than a decade on the run.
The deputy warden’s wife, Bobbi Parker, was still with him when he was recaptured. She has since been reunited with her family, according to news reports.
After disappearing from GSR in 1994, Parker contacted her family on two occasions.
After his recapture, Dial said his relationship with Parker had never been romantic and that they lived in separate rooms on the chicken farm. He said he felt that Parker had developed “Stockholm Syndrome,” a condition in which kidnapping victims become sympathetic to their captors. He said Parker lived in fear that if she attempted to get away he would harm her or her family.
Dial was sentenced on Feb. 2 to seven years for the escape. He had initially been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Tulsa karate instructor in 1985.
crystaldawn 06-13-2007, 12:39 PM Good riddance, Mr. Dial!
I second that. I wonder if Bobbi Parker is now relieved.
I wonder if Bobbi Parker is still with her husband? A lot of time had passed since she was gone. Any word on that?

I was wondering the same thing. This was such a sad story. Bobbi and Randy's girls pretty much grew up without their mother, and none of the rest of the family had any idea whether she was even alive. Then she suddenly reappears! I wonder if her family had her declared dead, or if Randy had moved on to another relationship.

I'm guessing that she's been keeping a low profile these past two years, so that she could focus on getting her life back to normal. Considering that she had been missing for nearly 11 years, resuming a normal life takes a considerable amount of time and effort. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't do any interviews for the next several years.

or perhaps mourning?
wiseguy182 06-13-2007, 09:00 PM Yes, good riddance. Part of me wants these murderers and such to have to spend their lives behind bars for what they did, but IMO things are probably better off with them dead, because there's always the chance of escape, which did in fact happen in this case.

Forgive my ignorance but what does IMO mean?

In my opinion....:)
Good riddance.
Can't believe the Dial saga is finally over.
crystaldawn 06-15-2007, 09:57 AM or perhaps mourning?
:p
or perhaps mourning?
If so, would she be in as much mourning as (or more than) the Hollywood elites were when they were mourning the death of mass murderer Stanley 'Tookie' Williams?
In any case, I'm not surprised by the news of Dial's death. I knew that he'd had some health issues related to his heart, so his heart problems were bound to catch up to him sooner or later.
unsolved88 06-15-2007, 08:39 PM I can't say that my heart bleeds! LOL
Very strange man. Nobody knows why he killed that karate instructor in the first place. He wasn't hired by the mob.
Anyone catch the Dateline NBC episode on this case?

I taped it, but haven't got a chance to watch it yet.
There have been several times in the last few months that other people in my house we'll be channel surfing on the t.v. in the living room and I notice that they will come across UM cases that are being profiled on other shows, but it was too late for me to post and do a 'programming alert' about it. Mickey Thompson and Darlie Routier are the two that come to mind. It's irritating because I've never seen the Darlie Routier segment and really want to.

Hi wiseguy182
You may already know this, but in case you don't:
http://www.justicefordarlie.net/media.php
When you click on that link, look to the right and you will see a listing that starts with "911 Audio and Transcript". Under that is a listing of several shows that cover the Darlie Routier story. The Leeza Show, 20/20, American Justice, Mugshots, etc. as well as the UM segment.
