I know I Love Lucy has been airing forever and going strong, and rightfully so. The show is amazing. I'm curious about the younger generation and ILL. I have nieces and nephews that have never seen an episode. I'm projecting a few decades into the future. Once the solid fanbase is gone, is there enough interest to keep it going? For all I know, the youngins' could be loving the show, but that hasn't been my experience. Thoughts?

My kids love the show. I had them growing up on I Love Lucy. My son, really made me laugh so hard when at the tender age of SIX MONTHS, when the I Love Lucy theme started on the t.v. his head would turn so fast to the television and he would stare at the screen until the theme music stopped. I remember one time when he was lying down drinking his bottle and the theme music started and he sat up so darn fast, I almost fell off the bed from laughing. I wish I had set up the camcorder to catch that moment.

My girls grew up watching it too. I would hope they would carry the tradition of being ILL fans. My oldest daughter bought me the first season DVD for Christmas and even before I had a chance to watch them, there she was watching it with her friends.

I hope the new generation keeps this show alive.

I think a lot of it has to do with exposure and therefore how accessible it will be in the future.

I grew up with ILL in reruns all the time, and I thought it was great.
The sense of humor clicked for me as a kid, in almost the same way the Warner Bros/Bugs Bunny humor did.

I got it and I felt comfortable with it.

I think if it is out there and visible, it will connect.

Sometimes funny is funny, and that is what makes it classic.

I agree whole-heartedly with all those comments. The only thing that I don't like about the show is that it seems so sexist now. I keep reminding myself that that's the way things were back in the 50s, but that's one thing that really dates the show.

I don't think it's stretching the truth that every woman has a little "Lucy Ricardo" in her: the wacky, child-like side waiting to get out!! :lol: :rofl:

So True! My 13 year old neice likes to watch it, but my son never got interested in it. He does like watching Andy Griffith and All In The Family though.

I'm 19 (well soon the be 20) and love both I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners--actually if it's a 50's show chances are I love it. I use to think I was the only one but I recently learned almost all of my friends and people I know are fans of the show.
I think my generation is finally realizing how crappy TV/music is today and starting to look to the older shows that have endless amounts of talent--for their entertainment.
My thirteen year old niece and her little friends watch ILL and The Honeymooners and my 2 year old niece and seven year old nephew are beginning to watch them as well…so…yet some more generations that will make sure these shows stay alive.

I couldn't agree more!! I was about 4 when I remember watching the reruns of I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, The Munsters, Three's Company, etc. My grandmother took care of me so I'd watch all those shows in the morning with her including The Price Is Right and I didn't mind at all. I found the physical comedy more funnier than cartoons. Then when I was about 13 I started to watch those shows on an everyday basis and the ones I couldn't watch(because of school)I'd time so my VCR can record them. Alot of my friends didn't understand why I loved these shows. And yes there is alot of crap on tv now-a-days and thank goodness for reruns and dvds. I don't know where I'd be without them. :lol:

I'm on the same boat with you. I'll be 20 in a few months and I like ILL.
I like every comedy from back in the day. These shows that are on now are pointless with endless sex jokes, same episodes and lines done many, many times.
