View Full Version : Darlene let Molly off easy after she found out...
Ireneparalegal 06-11-2007, 10:53 PM that Molly kissed David. The first time I seen this episode, I was hoping to see a confrontation between Darlene and Molly. I would expect Darlene to let Molly have it...BUT GOOD! She let Molly off easy by never confronting her. I found this weird since the Darlene character disliked Molly and wanted nothing to do with her.

Yeah, it was out of character for Darlene. The writers missed a good opportunity with that one! :argue:
Scoobiedoo30 06-12-2007, 01:21 AM what was that episode abbout again
coffield3 06-12-2007, 09:43 AM I agree! i expected a big argument!! darlene throwing things etc..lol.
SparkleFarkle 06-12-2007, 10:23 AM I thought the writers were just taking the opportunity to remind viewers that deep down inside, Darlene is human, just like everyone else, and she actually felt threatened with the situation. Those feelings were prabably new to her and acting "cool" about it maybe was her way of dealing wioth the panic she was feeling at the time.

Darlene immediately felt threatened by Molly as soon as she moved next door-lol But it's understandable though because I would be the same way if some ole cool a$$ dude moved next door-lol By the way, by a accident, i saw that the girl who played Molly starred in a short-lived 1990 show called Uncle Buck with John Candy

Darlene did call her a "that skank Molly girl"...so if you think abt it, Darlene knew that down the road that Molly would get her teeth into David. She even said to David she seen how it was between them (David and Molly). Basically, if the hoochie mama wasn't a skank, there is no need to worry. Darlene was on the money abt the prospect of Molly hitting on her man. She had every right to feel the way she did. Most women know what women (girls) they can trust and the ones they know they can't.
It would have been great to see Darlene go to Molly and confront her and tell her she knew exactly what a big skank she was and couldn't be trusted to "respect" Darlene's relationship with David. Then, Darlene would have really let her have it. ;)
Danielle Harris. Hottie. Still is!
TracknField_Rebel 01-13-2009, 05:26 AM actually I always liked the way Darlene handled it.....Darlene was always loud...but never really hurt noone....except for DJ....and in that case....she was just sad, too....so she reacted that way...which to me was very, very realistic
coffield3 01-13-2009, 04:00 PM Yeah, they missed a great opportunity there. Darlene wouldn't of been violent, just passionate for the love she had for David, that could of been a fantastic scene :)
danzin01_1983 02-27-2010, 04:34 PM I have been reliving this series through youtube, and I actually liked they way that they handled it. I think it did make more sense for her to have the emotional scene with David. Darlene talking to David was way more important to see than her kicking Molly's butt. Besides Darlene was more angry with David than Molly. I think that was just something that was expected out of Molly, and that is why she didn't go after her.

I think you hit the nail on the head! We were always seeing Darlene as a "bad ass, nothing bothers me" kind of person and so they used this opportunity to remind us that Darlene does indeed feel things....and very deeply, she just never really showed it as a rule. There was two other times I recall Darlene showing her vulnerablity and one was when she fought Rosanne on reading that poem she was forced to write and as it turned out, it was so real that it brought Rosanne to tears. I think her real fear was that people would see that she was indeed vulnerable like anyone else. Somehow we as humans, kids especially view vulnerablity as a weakness. The second time was when she had her baby and feared for her daughter's life. She went as far as to show her fear and lean on her family. I didn't mean to ramble on, but once I start writing it sort of just happens.
90sfan 04-10-2011, 09:22 PM I always thought Molly was a beautiful and was a great actress, I wish she would have stayed on longer.
Sean Conner 04-18-2011, 04:44 AM The whole Tilden story arc is probably my most favorite of the series.
So many good episodes throughout that span:
1. When the Tildens move in next door and Roseanne decides to flash Dan in the backyard, only to inadvertently flash Ty in the process.
2. When Molly and Darlene go to a concert in Rockford. One of the best lines of the series is uttered in this episode: "Oh, man. I feel like I'm the middle of a really bad after-school special."
3. When the Conners & Tildens drive cross country to California.
4. When Molly and Davis kiss, which leads David and Darlene to break up. Another awesome quote comes from Bev's boyfriend when he says that he and his sister were never THAT close (he assumes Darlene and David are brother and sister).
Definitely a classic few episodes involving the two families. I kind of wish they would have kept the Tilden family, but by season six, they're totally written out altogether.
I can only assume they moved.

Kevin Meaney starred in the series, John Candy starred in the movie.
