Maureen McCormick goes into quite a bit of detail about the filming of that movie in her recent autobigraphy. There was a LOT of drug using going on on that set.

I'd like to see this really STUPID one from the 70s, with Alan Alda, Connie Stevens, Doug McClure and Barbera Feldon-I forget the name; I think it was called "SWINGERS" or something. It's a comedy with Alan Alda and Doug McClure as two divorced men who become friends, then fall for each others ex-wives.
It's really stupid, but I'd at least like to see it again for that reason.

"Surviving"-- 80s TV movie with Molly Ringwald and Zach Galligan, as two teens who feel rejected by schoolmates and their parents, so they end up committing suicide together. The mothers are played by Marsha Mason and Ellen Burstyn. A young River Phoenix plays Zach's younger brother. This is a very gut wrenching movie, one of the best I ever saw made for TV.

"The Best Little Girl in the World"--Jennifer Jason Leigh plays a teen anorexic with Brian Dennehy as the dad. One of the first TV movies to tackle the topic.

Three On A Date [1977], Miss All-American Beauty [1982], Every Mother's Worst Fear with Cheryl and Jordan Ladd along with Ted McGinley and Abandoned And Deceived with Lori Loughlin and Brian Kerwin. All I can think of.

A Cry For Help: The Tracey Thurman Story (1989): Nancy McKeon plays Tracey Thurman a woman savagely stabbed by her ex-husband who sues her city for failing to protect her and helps get anti-stalking laws into law. It was absolutley gut-wrenching the work that Nancy did in this movie, i cry anytime i see it. It used to play on Lifetime and LMN all the time, but they don't seem to show it anymore.

Sidney Sheldon's Nothing Lasts Forever (1995): This movie stars Gail O'Grady, Vanessa Williams and Brooke Shields as three doctors in L.A. whose lives change forever with a car accident and a secert affair. that's all i remember about the movie, but i do recall it being very good when i watched it.

Co-Ed Call Girl (1996): Starring Tori Spelling this movie is about a college student who gets caught up in the world of prostitution. she gives a fun performance.

Love & Hate: The Story of Colin and Joanne Thatcher (1989): I recall loving this movie when it was released in 1990. It was about a politican who is in the midst of a nasty divorce from his wife and decides to kill her. It stars Kate Nelligan and Kenneth Welsh, and it absolutley amazing.

The Ultimate Lie (1996): another movie from 1996 that deals with hookers, this one is even better. It stars Kristin Davis as a rebelious teenager who becomes a hooker and shows up for a job one night to find to her horror the client is her own father!

Bare Essence (1982): this amazing movie stars Donna Mills, Linda Evans, Genie Francis and others about a woman who wants to start up a purfume company. It was one of those over the top melodramatic mini-series of the 80's that was so good you just had to watch!

My Name Is Kate (1994): Starring Donna Mills this movie is about a woman entering rehab for a drinking problem. one of the first to tackle this issue.

The Stepford Husbands (1996): Starring you guessed it Donna Mills this is a retake of The Stepford Wives in which it's the men that are robots and not the ladies.

Betrayl Of Trust (1994): Judith Light stars as a women seeking drug and alchol treatment who finds out that her therapist has been molesting her.

Murder At My Door (1996): Starring Judith Light and Johnny Galecki this is the story of a young boy with a dark, twisted secret life of murder.

This Child is Mine (1985): A unwed teenager mother sues the adoptive parents of her infant child. (starring Nancy McKeon, Lindsay Wagner and Michael Learner)

The Ryan White Story (1989): Judith Light and Lucas Hass star in the fact based story of Ryan White, a young kid that got AIDS from a blood transfusion and was kicked out of school because of it.

Please, Don't Hit Me Mom (1981): Nancy McKeon, Patty Duke and Sean Astin star in this movie about a babysitter that realizes one of her kids is being abused by his mother!

While Justice Sleeps (1994): Starring Cybill Shepherd this story is about a single mother who learns her daughter has been molested by her oldest friend in the world.

I used to love all those NBC made for tv movies with Candace Cameron, Soliel Moon Frye, Tori Spelling and so on that aired every sunday night usually with some sitcom star as a rape victim or so on.

Buried Alive-it was with Tim Matheson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, William Atherton, and Hoyt Axton. Jennifer and Atherton play lovers who plot to kill her husband(Matheson), with poison so they can sell his business. Leigh dosent give him enough poison and Matheson manages to get himself out of his grave and come back for vengance. It originally aired on USA around 1989 and made it to VHS.


The Silence of the Heart-it was with Chad Lowe, Charlie Sheen, and Howard Hessman. It was about teen suicide.

It was a mini series from around 1984 which took place from the 20's and the 60's , and was set in a fictious (or however you spell it) southern town called Delano. It was about teenage boys who mysteriously dissapeared over several years. It was about teenage boys who mysteriously dissapeared over several years. Am I the only one here who remembers The Karen Carpenter Story from 1989? A lot of was fictionalized, but if you're a Carpenters fan, it's worth watching. I taped it off TV (it used to air on Lifetime a lot) and should watch it again one of these days.

I also liked that TV movie about Natalie Wood that Peter Bogdanovich directed a few years ago. I'm sure lots of liberties were taken, but it was an interesting show to watch for 3 hours.

Another one I forgot to mention, this is sort of a miniseries though because it aired on two nights: "Under Siege". It aired in 1986 about a terrorist attack on the US, written 15 years before 9/11.

Do you know if FHTE is out on DVD? I know a Natalie Wood DVD box collection would available on DVD next month, but i'm wondering would that be included also or if it's already out on DVD by itself. FHTE used to play a lot on Encore Love Stories by somehow stopped showing in early 2007.

^ As of now, FHTE is not on DVD. After that miniseries ended, a weekly series was put together starring most of the cast, but Natalie turned it down and was replaced by Barbara Hershey (Beaches). I'd really like to see this sometime - from what I hear, the love scenes really pushed the envelope of what could be shown on network TV at the time.

Yes - Hallmark is VERY good about releasing their movies on both VHS and now DVD.

"Friendly Fire"--1978 or 79, ABC TV movie with Carol Burnett showing a great range as a dramatic actress as a grieving mother who demands to know why her son was killed in Vietnam under the auspices of "friendly fire".

Carol Burnett also did a fantastic dramatic part in another TV movie called "The Tenth Month". She portrays an unmarried, middle-aged woman who accidently gets pregenant by an internationally renowned pianist and decides to keep and raise the baby on her own.

One Special Victory is one of my favorites. But I haven't seen it on LMN in awhile. I think the last time I saw it was about two years ago. I also hope the the 10th Kingdom gets released.

I did see part of the Green Acres reunion movie a couple of years ago (it was one of the local channel's Saturday Afternoon at the Movies), and what I did see was indeed pitiful. Eddie Albert even went on record as saying he wished he'd never done it. Never saw the Beverly Hillbillies one.

I'd like to see this really STUPID one from the 70s, with Alan Alda, Connie Stevens, Doug McClure and Barbera Feldon-I forget the name; I think it was called "SWINGERS" or something. It's a comedy with Alan Alda and Doug McClure as two divorced men who become friends, then fall for each others ex-wives.

In the book "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" by Stephen Cox Paul Henning said that when he wrote the movie he was on medication at the time that cause depression, and when the cast gathered for the read-through, they realized how bad it was, but then there was a writers strike, so they couldn't get a rewrie. And they were already commited to do it, so they were "up a creek without a paddle".
And Nancy Kulp said that part of it was that they had a director who wasn't good with comedy AT ALL!
And Donna Douglas said that it just wasn't the same since the mansion, the truck, etc. weren't there.

It was a 1978 two-hour thing on "The Wonderful World of Disney" about a pair of pissed-off tweens who bolt from their cruel parents' vacation to rescue their younger siblings from foster care and get hunted down by cops and bank robbers, the media, and others.

yes she did. Katie Wright got a slew of TV Movies during the 1990's either right during or right after "Malibu Shores" and i definetly remember that one! It was called "A Secret To Die For" or "A Secret Between Friends" something like that. It was pretty awesome! But now that i think about it i think it may have been belumia, then again there were so many eating disorder movies during the 1990's it's hard to keep track of them all.

^ I don't remember those, but I DO remember another Kate Jackson made for TV movie. It was called Empty Cradle (1993) and co-starred Lori Loughlin. Kate played a nurse who faked a pregnancy to hang on to her boyfriend and swiped Lori's baby.

Hi. I agree with all the other posts in this category. They were all great tv movies. Most ARE available through private collectors. I have been searching forever for an ABC tv movie of the week titled DIAL HOT LINE. This aired in 1970 and starred the late, great Vince Edwards. Dial Hot Line is the pilot film for Vince Edwards' tv series Matt Lincoln. This series was short-lived. ABC scheduled Matt Lincoln at 7:30 opposite Flip Wilson and Jim Nabors. Can you imagine a series that dealt with college age kids coming to a walk-in clinic for help with depression airing at 7:30? This series deserves to be seen again. Dial Hot Line and the individual episodes of Matt Lincoln are not available through private collectors. I would also love to see the tv movie titled THE COURAGE AND THE PASSION, also with Vince Edwards and Desi Arnaz Jr. It dealt with the lives of Air Force pilots and their families on the base.

Anybody remember these?

I remember Stranger In The Family. I really liked it. Terri Garr had a great dramatic performance in that movie. I remember a few years ago Encore Drama played it a few times. I wish Lifetime would air it.

Yes, Strange Voices is the one where Nancy McKeon plays the woman with schizophrenia. Pretty decent movie.

I'll check Lifetime for Empty Cradle. Pretty sure it's one that I've seen and if I'm remembering correctly I did enjoy it. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

and another one had Heather Locklear as a women whose idenity gets stolen by her assistant or some lady that wants to be her. I want to say it was sometime in the 1990's before identify theft was even a crime.

Hi. I agree with all the other posts in this category. They were all great tv movies. Most ARE available through private collectors. I have been searching forever for an ABC tv movie of the week titled DIAL HOT LINE. This aired in 1970 and starred the late, great Vince Edwards. Dial Hot Line is the pilot film for Vince Edwards' tv series Matt Lincoln. This series was short-lived. ABC scheduled Matt Lincoln at 7:30 opposite Flip Wilson and Jim Nabors. Can you imagine a series that dealt with college age kids coming to a walk-in clinic for help with depression airing at 7:30? This series deserves to be seen again. Dial Hot Line and the individual episodes of Matt Lincoln are not available through private collectors.
'Matt Lincoln' was a fresh, original tv series, and even though I only saw it once, I remember it vividly. Series based on psychiatrists seem to have suffered particularly short runs on broadcast and cable television.

I never saw the pilot for it, but I do miss the days when spring would be testing ground for viewers to check out the fall pilots. 'Matt Lincoln' was part of ABC's youth push that season under the slogan "Let's Get Together on ABC" that included 'The Young Rebels', 'The Young Lawyers', 'The Partridge Family' and 'Barefoot in the Park'.

My notes on the 1970-71 season indicate that 'Matt Lincoln' did indeed get flattened in the Nielsen's:

Thursdays, 7:30-8:30 pm:
1st: NBC 'The Flip Wilson Show' 27.9HH
2nd: CBS 'Family Affair' / 'The Jim Nabors Show' (first half) 19.5HH

Since this series was a short-run one season wonder, so it may be a while before Universal licences it for dvd release. I would send them a note, and tell them how much the series (and pilot) still resonates. Universal has a solid reputation for maintaining their library, and if a few more people expressed interest, this series might be seen on dvd players again.

When producers go off in search of series to re-make or update for today, they should look for groundbreakers like 'Matt Lincoln'. I would think that today, helpline's/distress centres as portrayed in the show play an even bigger role in keeping our social fabric intact.

From what I remember there was a young man and young woman, I think either in their late teens or early 20s whose parents marry and they move in together. Shortly after the parents catch them in bed together. It wasn't the greatest movie and I don't think any famus actors played in it, but I just want to know the title of it :confused:

i would love to see any network revive Danielle Steel movies. my favorite is the one about the cast of a soap opera. i think Josie Bissett and Stephaine Zimablist are in it.

Yep - the book was written by an author named Barbara Dillon.

Family Sins with Kirstie Alley just aired on Lifetime and apparently will now air on the LMN. I've been waiting to re-watch this since it originally aired. I didn't know it was going to air until it already started and therefore missed the opportunity to record it. Hopefully they'll air it again on Lifetime soon.

If anyone is a Kirstie Alley fan and hasn't seen this movie, I urge you to try to catch it. I've never seen her play a villian until her role in this movie, and she does it very well.

I've seen that movie. I would love to see it again and wish it wa son DVD. There was a bunch of TV movies from around that era where Christopher Reeve played a villian. Another was Death Dreams which I have on VHS. There was another but I don't remember the name of it where he played a pedophile.

I'd like to see "IT HAPPENED ONE CHRISTMAS", the remake of "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" that ABC made in the 70s; with Marlo Thomas and Wayne Rogers.

one of my all-time favorites is "The Great Mom Swap" with Valerie Harper and Shelly Fabraes. they play rival mothers at a local high school whose daughters can't get along (because of their mother's fued) and they are sentenced by the school principal to live with each other's famalies for awhile to see how the other side lives. it was really fun to watch.

"MURDER IN COWOUTA COUNTY" (or COLOTA or something) from 1982 0r 83 wih Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash. Andy played this evil millionaire who "owned" the town where he lived. When he murdered a guy in Cowouta county (or whatever the name was, he did everything he could to cover it up and ensure that he'd never be caught, and if he was he thought that his money would protect him. But this ruthless sheriff played by Johnny Cash was assigned to the case and wouldn't rest until he was caught. When he finnaly was, and setenced to the electric chair, the very last scene showed him in the chair with his head shaved (which is the way it was really done, not what you see in old movies) the scene ended where the switch was pulled, and the screen went dark, with no music or closing credits or anything; giving you the sense that he was really killed

I really wanted to see that movie and missed it. I DID see another Beach Boys movie called Summer Dreams: The Story of the Beach Boys (1990). Bruce Greenwood played Dennis Wilson.

I have seen both of those movies about the Beach Boys. I thought John Stamos produced one was a bit better. I saw it during it's original airing on ABC and once on VH1.

Thanks for the info. All I remember about the 1990 Beach Boys flick was a pretty graphic (for a network TV flick) drowning scene involving Dennis Wilson. It creeped me out, especially because they showed it as the late night movie once before I went to bed. :eek:

That scene kind of creeped me out.

In the American Family one, they really made the dad out to be a horrible person. The guy that played him (Kevin Dunn) was in the movie "Dave" with Kevin Kline. He played the guy who "recruited" Dave to "fill in" for the president. It's amazing the range of acting that guy has!
I love that American Family movie. I think it was a miniseries or at least a two-parter, because it covered a lot of material. Wow, now the more I think about it the more I want to see it.
I also liked the fact that they didn't use a lot of big name stars in the movie.

In the Nick of Time a Christmas movie that starred Lloyd Bridges, Michael Tucker and A. Martinez.

I would love to have Sceezer on DVD. Sceezer stared Karen Valentine. It is about how a dog name Sceezer who helps emotionally disturbed kids. It is a very heart warming story.

Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)

I would love it if this television movie got an official release. Unfortunately, I don't think it ever will happen.

It really stinks because even though most of the Star Wars cast & crew and the fans look down on this project there are a lot of those that hope for an official release.

Some people also want it released to see Bea Arthur, Art Carney, and Harvey Korman. With the recent passing of Bea Arthur and the ball hasn't started rolling to get this released, I don't think it's going to happen.

It's been widely available on bootlegs for years and you could find it easily on the internet but I would love for an official release.

Another one I'd like to see released to DVD is 1986's Babes in Toyland.

BABES IN TOYLAND was broadcast on Tuesday December 23rd, 2008 this past season on MyNetworkTV. It got a pretty decent audience, and it might get encored next season as part of their Christmas holiday scheduling.

"Surviving"-- 80s TV movie with Molly Ringwald and Zach Galligan, as two teens who feel rejected by schoolmates and their parents, so they end up committing suicide together. The mothers are played by Marsha Mason and Ellen Burstyn. A young River Phoenix plays Zach's younger brother. This is a very gut wrenching movie, one of the best I ever saw made for TV.

Yes!!!! I was recently looking online to see if SURVIVING was on DVD, but no such luck. This was a very intense movie, and it really stuck with me after all these years. I would love to be able to see this again. The movie basically had an all star cast....I just don't understand why it hasn't resurfaced on DVD.

Ironically both River Phoenix, and Heather O'Rourke(who played Galligan's siblings) passed on in their young lives.

Another one that comes to mind is A RIGHT TO KILL, about a young boy who kills his abusive father. The film stars Chris Collet, Justine Bateman, and Fredrick Forrestt. It was a really good movie, yet another one thats hard to find these days.

Deception: A Mother's Secret starred Steven Weber, Mary Page Keller and Katherine Helmond . It's a about a man who marries a woman with a son. The wife dies in an accident and the man decides to adopt his stepson to keep him from ending up in foster care and he discovers that his deceased wife isn't the biological mother of her son and that her ex-husband has a bad background. The main character is faced with the dilemna of giving up a child that he loves or protecting his wife's past crimes.

Today I did some shopping for some made for tv movies on Amazon and I found that several out of print movies are being sold for very high prices by Amazon marketplace sellers. It made me a bit sad to see that. I know that Some Amazon marketplace sellers do sell out of print titles for good prices but others don't. I did bough four out of print movies for marketplace sellers mainly because I figured those titles will never be in print again. My advice to you made for tv movie fans is to keep a list of things you see on TV and check Amazon and other sites and buy when they are in stock to avoid paying more later.

Made for tv movies are sort of dying. Right now CBS is the only network making them. Hallmark Channel and Lifetime have made some great movies in the past couple of years.

Does Return To Mayberry count. It was one of the best reunion shows I ever seen. Nearly all whole cast, showed up.

I agree with you on those UFO/alien related movies. Another UFO related movie I wish were released in the U.S. on DVD, is the miniseries Intruders.

I would really love to see the Disney Channel Original Movie Spot Marks the X. I must be the only person here who knows about it.

It was about the broadcast of H.G. Welles "THE WAR OF THE WORLDS" by Orson Welles and the Mercury Theater on halloween night in 1938 and how it was so realistic a lot of people thought it was real.

"TRAPPED" also from ABC in-I think-1973? It was about a man locked in a department store after it closed; with some killer guard dogs.

There was a movie, I'm TOLD it was a tv movie with Alex Karas and the lady who was on Webster with him (Forget her name but I believe they were married) where Karas was a wrestler. Wanna say based on production quality the movie was maybe mid to late 70's? I'm told the name was "Mad Bull" I've only seen maybe 20 minutes of it, would LOVE for it to be on DVD, or to see it all the way through.

there was one that aired on ABC in 1971 called "SWINGERS" or something like that. It starred Alan Alda, Doug McClure, Connie Stevens and Barbara Feldon and was about these two divorced guys who became friends, then each fell in love with each others ex-wives. It was pretty stupid but I wouldn't mind seeing it again for that reason.

Lisa from 1990 starring Cheryl Ladd, Staci Keanan and DW Moffett. I remember as a young kid watching this one and really loving it. Staci Keanan (Dana from Step by Step and Nicole on My Two Dads); plays a 14 year old girl whose single mother (Cheryl Ladd) has forbid her from dating until she is 16; so along w/her best friend she makes up a game where she finds out the names and phone numbers of attractive men and calls them on the phone; pretending to be an adult. The last victim who she talks to for a long time turns out to be a psycho murderer, played by DW Moffett.
