Trapped
Starring Mel Harris and Dylan McDermott as an unhappily married Ohio couple who are "trapped" in a loveless marriage with two teenage children. Scott and Sarah Arken (McDermott, Harris)'s two teenage children are Trent Arken, 18 (Ryan Pinkston) and Riley Arken, 16 (Lyndsy Fonsea). Scott is a frustrated, yet successful senior advertising executive for a well-known Cincinnati advertising firm. Sarah is a registered nurse in the maternity ward, who secret yearns for another child (yet knows it won't happen). Scott and Sarah were once-high school sweethearts who married a year after graduating from high school. In the past recent years, both Scott and Sarah separately are feeling that their once so-called "perfect" marriage is now crumbling down to nothing but a big disappointment to both of them. Scott has cheated on Sarah with his former secretary (who later quit the firm after finding out he was married and had no intentions of leaving Sarah), which Sarah found out years later. However, instead of just leaving Scott, she sought out revenge and had slept with Scott's former best friend/business associate. Scott was a good-looking, athletic jock back in high school who had the world by his horns, but nowdays, he longs for more in his life (i.e. his marriage, his career, his family, his life in general). His job is very stressful and adds to his frustrations--which he tends to bring home and take out on his family. Sarah also was quite popular (and promscious) back in high school, but now she feels she's a failure as a wife and mother, and only takes great pride in his job as a maternity ward nurse. She sees all the little, cute babies and secretly longs to have another child to "gain a second chance" at motherhood, after feeling she was too young and not ready to become a mother to Trent and Riley when she did. Moving on to their kids: Trent is a high school senior who is very cocky, popular, defies authority figures, and thinks he's "God's gift to women". Riley is a high school sophomore who is very gorgeous, promscious (like her mom was, back in the day), stuck-up, and knows when to use her good looks to her advantage. Riley is nicknamed "The Queen Of Manipulation" by her girlfriends. Sarah's two lifelong best friends: the smart and beautiful single mom-Kathy Nolan (Gail O'Grady) and the sarcastic and man-hungry thrice divorcee-Susan Raymonds (Sharon Lawrence). Kathy is a longtime single mom of one slightly-rebellious, teenage daughter-Erica Nolan (Danielle Panabaker)-who is in Trent's grade, and friends with both Arken children. Susan is a sex-crazed, man-hungry divorced mom, who has a thing for younger men, of one college-aged son, Will Buchanan (Jake McDorman). Will and Riley have been having a secret fling on-again, off-again over the past two years. Unbeknownst to Riley, Will has been hooking up with Erica a few times recently, while Will is still "with" Riley.
