View Full Version : Favorite car commercials?
catlover79 06-07-2007, 10:41 AM Sorry, I didn't know which board to put this under.
My dad and I always enjoyed the VW "Fun in the Sun" ad. The guy picks a sunny Mexican vacation over the car, and the waiter watching on TV says "Idiota!" When he turns around, the contestant is right there, scowling! It is pouring buckets outside!! :brent Another VW commercial I enjoyed was the "da da da" one, with the chair. Another good one was the guy getting a phone call from himself in the future: "Don't take that job in Boston...and when you meet Becky...RUN!" I think that was a VW ad as well.
Some car commercials I like because they are very simple and to the point. The Dodge Ram commercial that aired a couple of years ago just showed the truck with "Keep On Truckin'" by Eddie Kendricks playing in the background. Very nice. Recently, I also enjoyed the Saturn (?) commerical that had "Mahna Mahna" playing. I was humming it for days!!
TripperFan 06-07-2007, 10:55 AM VW are putting out some really good ads right now.
I like the one where a couple of young guys are in a City Golf and there's a cop car behind them with the lights going. The driver says, "Oh oh - I stole this car." The passenger freaks and says, "WHAT?!" The driver says, "Yeah, I only paid $14,900 for it - totally stole it". The passenger keeps looking back nervously and then the cop just passes them to pursue a chase with someone else.
It's good - makes you pay attention and it's a clear message of how inexpensive the car is.

EmoJoe 06-08-2007, 11:55 PM umm...none. i dont think ive ever seen a halfway decent car commercial. they are the lowest of the low when it comes to commercials.

Check out the super-plush interior at 25 seconds into the commerical.

A Scotsman complains about all of the fuel his VW Rabbit diesel uses from driving between Glasgow and Edinburgh twenty times a year.
"Last year," he says, "I had to buy two whole tankfuls!"
Mikado 03-13-2008, 01:29 AM My fave is an ad with Dustin Hoffman for the (Then) New VW type 3 fastback......who explains the car has no engine under the hood, but then, looks for the engine in the rear, only to get a big surprise!

Your VW dealer will show you where the motor is. :rotflmao:

We had a type 3 wagon (AKA Squareback sedan), I know where it is ;) !
Was a great car; with the pancake engine, we could store everything we needed for a weekend of camping in that little machine with room left over for a big box of comic books :D the rear seat folded down flat so you had a trunk in front and basically a covered mini pickup truck bed behind the seats.
coffield3 03-13-2008, 07:03 PM I like this one :D

Stormtracker TF 03-13-2008, 11:25 PM The recent Audi R8 commercial is one of the best I've ever seen.
AMackII 08-26-2018, 09:43 AM Chevy, Buick & Ford
Steve M. 08-29-2018, 08:42 PM This one, because it's so absurd. "Who'd ever believe a Rabbit could be beaten by a Pontiac?" Someone who didn't mind a 1980 rear-drive Sunbird with a low floor, a huge driveshaft, and less room.

Steve M. 08-29-2018, 08:45 PM And then there's this equally absurd 1979 commercial for the Pontiac Grand Prix where a Japanese guy sees that it gets just as good fuel economy as Toyota Celica but at a cheaper price. Except that the Celica was more reliable and rode better than a Grand Prix, a mid-size coupe that had become a "personal luxury car" for people over 50.
