TVFactFan 06-06-2007, 09:25 PM Watching this silly sh*T on TBS and it's complete Garbage. Then to makes things worst the Madea character walks in and that just was to much. But what was really over the top was the young boy being bullied by a Pretty Girl. PBS please pick this show up!!!!!, it stinks.

I seen the promos for this show early this morning when I was trying to go to sleep and I had the tv on. It looked dumb.
Scoobiedoo30 06-06-2007, 09:32 PM I missed the episodes do you know if TBS 17 is going to re-broadcast the 2 episodes

NY Post actually give it a OK review
dawsongirl 06-06-2007, 10:01 PM It got a really bad review in some magazine. Had to be either Entertainment Weekly or TV Guide, since those are the only ones I read.
MLBonTBS 06-06-2007, 10:03 PM I saw a review in TV Guide that called it worse than a rehersal. And of course TBS has ordered 100+ episodes.
But this show did very well during last year's test run, including in Atlanta on WTBS 17.
Mr. Television 06-06-2007, 10:13 PM You were close with your thread title Solomon. USA TODAY's headline was 'House of Payne' it hurts to watch. lmao

The show is a complete mess. That crabby father gets on my nerves the most. I don't understand why they are calling this the debut of the show when they showed several episodes last summer. When it left the schedule suddenly I was relieved, thinking that it had been cancelled.
Ant-Lox 06-06-2007, 10:59 PM I seen an episode when they test ran it on WB or UPN last year, it looked like a badly rehearsed play. Really bad stuff.

Ireneparalegal 06-06-2007, 11:33 PM And why is it called TYLER PERRY'S House of Payne?
TVFactFan 06-06-2007, 11:36 PM And why is it called TYLER PERRY'S House of Payne?

catlover79 06-07-2007, 10:04 PM Maybe they should change the title to "House of Shame". I'm sorry, "Shayme".

TVFactFan 06-07-2007, 10:23 PM Don't anyone be FOOLED by the Huge Ratings that HOUSE OF SHAME pulled in for TBS because it was the PREMEIRE EPISODE
James"Thunder"Early 06-07-2007, 11:57 PM I watched this and it's nothing more than a Chitlin Circuit play made into a sitcom. I don't know what TBS was thinking when they ordered 100 episodes of this, because this show is train wreck.
SBTB Geek 06-08-2007, 12:54 AM I love cheap looking sitcoms with bad acting. Hence my love for "Saved by the Bell," "Silver Spoons," and "Small Wonder."
Btw, Did anyone notice how the all of the older cast members are extremely overweight?
Scoobiedoo30 06-08-2007, 01:10 AM are theses new episodes or Reruns
ThomasE 06-12-2007, 01:14 PM Did anyone tape the shows? I want to check it out. I was at work. I am rooting for this show and Mr. Tyler Perry. Were the first two eps the shows from last year's airings when they were only seen in selective areas?
The cast probably sounded like they were theater rehearsed becacuse most of his prior productions were plays. I will bet that was the reason.
BTW, don't forget about the new Tyler Perry movie with Janet Jackson entitled "Meet Joe Jackson and his Razor Strap" this December in theaters.

I rather record marathon of Untamed Tigers on the Discovery Channel-lol
ThomasE 06-13-2007, 02:30 PM Well, I still have faith in my brother Tyler Perry.
Scoobiedoo30 06-13-2007, 03:05 PM I love the show
ThomasE 06-14-2007, 05:55 AM This was discussed on the "Tom Joyner Radio Show" last week. Tyler Perry was on the show and it was told to him by the Tom Joyner and Sybil Wilkes, another radio personality that others thought that Allen Payne did not have much to do during the first episode and that there were not a lot of funny moments on the show. Tyler said that the uncle and Madea were setting up the storyline for the show which is why the uncle had a lot of airtime. Allen Payne will be getting more airtime as time goes along.
He also said that the show will have more comical moments as well.
He also says that he is in production for another sitcom based on the play "Meet The Browns". The title of the new show is "Meet the Browns". LOL. I am gonna give Tyler Perry a chance. He says that there are over 40 eps that have been taped they have been taping three times a week.
Here's to the success of the show.

To me, Saved by the Bell does not fall into that category. Silver Spoons the later years would fall into the category to me and Small Wonder for sure.
Brieannas21 06-14-2007, 02:49 PM I've been recording the episodes on DVD, the laugh track is horrible. I know Tyler can get a live audience to sit in on tapings.

That's why the show seems like a DRAMA

In response to that, he did say that there will be a live audience soon to attend the tapings. He said this when he was on the Tom Joyner Radio Show.
I also tried watching on TBS.com but get a green screen when it plays back. It is obviously a computer problem on my end.

Tom since you are my boy I have to give you this advice-"NEVER EVER EVER WATCH SITCOMS ON A COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sitcoms are meant to be watched on a TV, that' it-lol

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Not true, if it weren't got in2tv.com I wouldn't have seen The New Dick Van Dyke Show for the first time. Also now ever night I watch Alice and Perfect Strangers before I go to bed.
Sitcoms watching on computers are alright with me.

Well just how big is your computer screen?
Brieannas21 06-15-2007, 06:28 PM Well just how big is your computer screen?
One laptop is 15.4 or something like that and the other one is 17.
Dr. Thong 06-15-2007, 08:32 PM i guess they figured more people watch if his name is in the title
I think his name goes before the title on all of his movies or shows. Can you say "egomaniac?"

I hear you but you must get with the times. We have a lot more access now. Portable sitcoms and dramas are great for people like myself who are seriously into sitcoms. I watch in2tv and love it. Brieanna, thanks for letting me know that The New Dick Van Dyke Show is on In2tv. I overlooked that somehow. Having easy access to shows is just the greatest.
I can understand what Solomon is saying though. Watching on TV is just something that is traditional and authentic but those times are fading away. In one my film classes, it was said that the box office attendance is slowing declining due to easy access of movies. Pretty soon people will be able to watch new releases in the privacy in their own homes rather than going to theateres.
Mr. Television 06-15-2007, 11:16 PM How were the ratings for week 2 Pav?
ThomasE 06-15-2007, 11:17 PM and loved it! Sorry for those of you who did not like it. I am pleased with what I saw in this episode. The laugh track could have been better. That is the only problem that I had wiht the show. Great show so far! I am digging this.

That's because movie tickets are so damn high, plus the drinks and snacks. You can easily spend over a $100 at the movies, Epecially if you're taking your kids.
ThomasE 06-15-2007, 11:21 PM We discussed that matter about the movies and snacks in class. They play a role. People figure that technology can help save money to a degree. The onlu thing that will be missed is the thrill and excitement of going to a theater with others for a showing of a film and being able to laugh with other strangers in a theater.

It's just not my cup of tea. I watched it again this week and it was alright but nothing special. I am glad their is excitement over a sitcom though. It gives me hope for others.
ThomasE 06-15-2007, 11:41 PM To each his or her own. I am glad that I did like it. I would love to see move of Madea in the show. Tyler could at least do ten more episodes out of the one hundred. I like this project. I want them to improve more on the laugh track.
Fallon97 07-11-2007, 10:01 PM I like the show! :D
GARFIELDKOOL 08-24-2007, 09:35 PM I tried to watch this crap two Wednesdays ago, this show didn't do a thing for me. I rather watch some UPN/CW shows than this unoriginal stuff.
ThomasE 08-24-2007, 09:38 PM The show is okay to me. It could be a bit better, though. However, I do support the run of the series because it does have something going for it. After the 100 ep order is done, then "Meet the Browns" will be next.

After not watching it for a while. Wednesday I watched the second episode and it was actually funny.

Don't say the Uncle was funny
Brieannas21 08-24-2007, 11:53 PM Don't say the Uncle was funny
The whole episode was good to me, probably the best so fat. The episode wasn't depressing and it didn't deal with his crackhead wife, she wasn't in the episode at all. the only person who really gets on my nerves is the fat white guy, he just doesn't fit in.

It ok, nothing that I would buy on DVD, I hope it gets better. They need to get rid of that laugh track and get in a real audience.
GARFIELDKOOL 08-25-2007, 08:53 AM One thing I noticed is that they tried with the corny "Yo Mamma" jokes. That is so 1970s/80s.
Dr. Thong 08-25-2007, 09:37 AM One thing I noticed is that they tried with the corny "Yo Mamma" jokes. That is so 1970s/80s.
And a reminder of how much better '70s sitcoms were in general.
isiahthomas 08-25-2007, 11:44 AM LOL@Solomon calling the fat father on House Of Payne ugly and the worst actor he's ever seen hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. That fat dude you're talking about Solomon, i first saw him in Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls movie with Gabrielle Union, Idris Elba(his name is jacked up LOL), Lou Gossett Jr. He was a singer at this club that Gabrielle and Idris went to on their date. Idris knew him. The fat dude's wife on House Of Payne was also in Daddy's Little Girls. That was my first time seeing her. The little girl in the picture up above was Idris Elba's daughter in Daddy's Little Girls. She has a twin sister in real life who was also in Daddy's Little Girls. Who's daughter is she on House Of Payne? Is she Allen Payne's daughter? I saw in the commercial for House Of Payne that Dorian Harewood and Anne Marie Johnson made a appearance on the show. Dorian said i will set it on up in here LOL. He should've said i will set it off. Dorian is a good actor. He's been around a long time. He played in Roots and Sparkle movies. Who is that woman that is Allen Payne's wife? I've never seen her before. She's cute. Solomon that girl your talking about that bullied that fat boy, she played in Madea's Family Reunion and Akeelah And The Bee movies. Her name is Keke Palmer and she's cute. Madea was whipping her ass in Madea's Family Reunion hahahahahahahahahaha. Keke got smart with Madea while Madea was riding in the car with her and Tyler Perry. Madea was sitting in the front seat and Keke was sitting in the back. Madea turned around and was whipping her because Keke kept getting a smart mouth with Madea.
TVLegend 02-13-2022, 04:35 PM Bump.
TVLegend 02-13-2022, 04:36 PM Sol, you really should’ve watch House Of Payne. Madea really is funny and I think the show’s real good once you get used to it.
ThomasE 02-13-2022, 07:38 PM The show has been resurrected since about 2020. My problem with the show from the first season if it’s resurrection is that it moved extremely slow and had pointless dialogue. Do you know that I took two episodes, one particular episode and then the episode that followed it did an edit and condensed it down to just 1/2 hour episode? I removed a lotta useless dialogue. Anyway, I have not watched the second season as of yet because some of the characters are missing and from what I hear Mr. Davis, the lead male actor on the show has only appeared in 1/2 of the season. The actress who plays the mother to Allen Payne‘s character hasn’t appeared at all on the second season and I’m hearing something about an airplane accident that she might have been in on the show, not the actress herself. We will see how season three goes. I may watch just to check it out.

To be honest, I don’t like this “revival” or whatever you call it. It seems so damn boring to me. Now Malik has this girlfriend, Lisa, who he apparently got pregnant, and now she’s living in C.J. and Janine’s house. Curtis was missing for almost ten episodes, with Floyd being in most of the episodes he didn’t appear in. I like Floyd, but he can only be shown so many times before I get tired of him. No Claretha, Curtis and Ella’s neighbor, I wonder what happened to her. But overall, I really don’t care for this new run of the show. They should’ve left well enough alone.
TVLegend 02-18-2022, 09:31 PM Also, I think the debut episode was great. Like I said, Madea’s funny and I wish she should’ve appeared more often. And I didn’t find nothing wrong with Curtis’s acting.
