View Full Version : Game 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals had less viewers than ION's Mama's Family-LOL
TVFactFan 06-06-2007, 06:45 PM Then Game 3 of the Finals had 1.1 Million viewers which was the lowest ratings in the History of the Network-lol Time for the NHL to be on RADIO ONLY, no more TV
Info from PTI on ESPN
Tony KornHesier never even heard of ION-lol His statement below
"Something called ION had more viewers than Game 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals"

Anything is better than the Actual Game-lol
Pavan 06-06-2007, 08:41 PM I think ION aired a movie on Saturday. So a movie beat the NHL. I'm sure many other networks had more than 1.1 million. USA, TBS, TNT for sure did.

ION only had more viewers during Game 1 and 2. Not Game 3.
Pavan 06-06-2007, 08:46 PM Well obviously. Vs. cable channel is very low rated. I think ION's movie had more viewers on Saturday than NBC anyway.

If it is was on ABC though, you'd give it a different spin. ;)
I kid! I Kid! :seeya:
Pavan 06-06-2007, 09:28 PM Actually no, I was embarrassed when ABC aired it. It wasn't this low on ABC though, lol.
Stanley Cup Finals were much better 10 years ago.
Chelsea 06-06-2007, 09:54 PM Most people in the United States started losing interest in hockey once Gretzky retired. The 04-05 clusterduck finished it off. Hockey needs a bona fide superstar again.

Yeah, I stopped watching hockey regularly when he retired and when Lindros got all those concussions and the Flyers traded him to the Rangers, I stopped watching it completely for years. I'll watch an occasional game here and there, mainly Bruins games, but that's it.

Mr. Television 06-07-2007, 11:48 PM I think that strike from a few years ago also hurt hockey when they didn't play for a whole season. People don't forget. If you let them find something else to do they will and hockey was never that big in most of America anyway.

Man it was bad. I was rooting for the replacement players to come in because I knew that it would break the strike. Plus the Cowboy replacement players were better the regular players. lol 1982 was worst. They sat out half the season.

Lex Luthor 06-11-2007, 05:53 PM Hockey has been destroyed over the last 10-12 years by a horrible commisioner who over expanded and diluted the talent pool. Going from 20 to 30 teams added another 300 players to the pool.
Lower quality players meant more defensive style coaching. The speed of the sport has been dragged down and the skill players are being hooked and held by low quality players who can't keep up.
There has been a very slight improvement in the past 2 years but it is still watered down talent.
I am a season ticket holder to Junior hockey and would prefer to watch that any day of the week. The speed is intense, the hits are bonecrushing and there are no million dollar babies who drag their asses because they know the coaches can't do anything to them.
1994 Vancouver vs the NY Rangers was probably the last exciting "real" hockey finals. Both teams were fast has scoring and tremendous work ethic. Since then teams like New Jersey and Anaheim who can stiffle a teams scoring have dominated.
