BOB BARKER!!!!!!!!

Well today is the day that Bob puts his famous microphone down for the very last time. The show Tapes today & will air next Friday the 15th. Every indication I have been given says this show will be one for the ages. Big price fans should be watching out for coverage of the taping in the next 2 days. I know ET has backstage access to the show which they will be showing tomorrow night. They would show it tonight but they tape the show around the same time as Price does.

What do you all think Bobs final goodbye will be?

I think he will say something like I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR HELPING THE PRICE IS RIGHT TO BE AROUND 35 YEARS & MAKING MY 50 YEARS IN TELEVISION SO MEMORABLE & ONE LAST TIME THIS IS BOB BARKER REMINDING YOU TO HELP CONTROL THE PET POPULATION, HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED>>>>> GOODBYE EVERYBODY.

Don't be surprised If Bob gets emotional as he says goodbye, he has been very emotional on the set this week posing for staff pictures with everyone & it would not shock me at all if he has a bit of trouble at the end.

Any news I hear about the taping I will pass along & i am still waiting on news of the next host. My friend @ cbs told me that the news will be coming soon & i will try my best to post it here as quick as i can!!!! That news could come down at any moment.

Bob already said in an interview that he was going to close the show just as he always does, but I too am hoping that he does something like you said, but he really was very humble at his nighttime special where he was honored. But I think he'll definately get sentimental about it. It's going to be a historic piece of television footage, most definately, no matter what though.

something tells me he will add just a little something prior to the typical sign off but I have no doubt his final words will be his trademark sign off!!

LOS ANGELES - Blowing kisses to the camera, Bob Barker signed off on 35 years on "The Price Is Right" and 50 years in daytime TV in the same low-key, genial fashion that made him one of daytime TV's biggest stars.

Barker, who had said before the taping on Wednesday of his final appearance that he would try to act as if it was "just another show," stuck to that promise. He ended the program as he always has, signing off with the words: "Help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered. Goodbye everybody."

After the cameras stopped rolling, he told the studio audience, "I thank you, thank you, thank you for inviting me into your home for more than 50 years. I'm truly grateful and I hope that all of you have enjoyed your visit to `The Price Is Right.'"

The hour-long taping began with the show's 83-year-old host entering the studio to a standing ovation from an adoring public and a giant shower of colorful confetti from his colleagues. The program is scheduled to air on June 15.

"This is over-the-top amazing. It's like a piece of Americana," said Terry Baldwin, 55, of Pebble Beach, Calif., who had camped out overnight to ensure she got a seat in the audience.

Barker went on to conduct the show like every other, presiding over his final Showcase Showdown and, during breaks for commercials, answering questions from the audience.

"Someone asked, will I spend my mornings watching 'The Price is Right'? In as few words as possible, no," he quipped. Then he acknowledged curiosity might get the better of him.

Barker said before the show he is looking forward to retirement, but added, "I know that I will miss the show terribly and miss the people on the show terribly. I know that I will have periods after I'm once retired when I'll think, `Boy I wish I was going over there to do `The Price Is Right.'"

Barker began his national television career in 1956 as the host of "Truth or Consequences." He first appeared on CBS' "The Price Is Right" on Sept. 4, 1972, and has been the face of the show ever since.

For 35 years, he has played the same games with contestants and filmed from the same spot — Studio 33, aka the Bob Barker Studio — at CBS Television City.

"The only thing that's changed on `The Price Is Right' is the color of my hair," Barker said during a CBS prime-time tribute show that aired last month.

Barker has influenced the show's prizes over the years, said longtime producer Roger Dobkowitz.

"Because he's a vegetarian, we respect his wishes and we don't advertise meat products on the show," he said. At Barker's request, they also stopped giving away fur coats.

The silver-haired host's long reign has also inspired fan traditions. Most female contestants — and even some men — kiss him on the cheek. Members of the military wear their uniforms. College students wear their university sweat shirts and groups of fans come in matching custom-made T-shirts.

As the legendary host counted down his last days on the air, fans from around the country made pilgrimages to Los Angeles to see him. Dozens camped out overnight near CBS studios for a chance to say goodbye during Barker's final week of shows.

"He's part of American culture," said Mark Dub, a NASA engineer who flew from Houston to attend the last show.

Barker's 35-year "Price" tenure was checkered by lawsuits brought by past "Barker's Beauties," the gown-wearing hostesses who present prizes such as microwaves, pinball machines and brand-new cars. Some sued him for sexual harassment and wrongful termination over the years. Most received out-of-court financial settlements.

Barker said he has no regrets — yet — about retiring: "Isn't that strange? I expected to have second thoughts."

He plans to fill his free time with travel, exercise and working with his animal charity, the DJ&T Foundation, named for his late wife, Dorothy Jo, and mother, Matilda ("Everybody called her Tilly," he said).

But he will miss the show, he said: "How many 83-year-old men get up every morning knowing that they're going to have a standing ovation sometime during the day?"

Though Barker joked that "all of television is going to end" when he retires, "The Price Is Right" will continue in the fall with a new host, who has yet to be named. Among those reportedly in the running are Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

"You're never going to be able to find somebody who's just like Bob Barker," said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, chief executive of FremantleMedia North America, which produces "The Price Is Right." "They're very large shoes to fill."

That's very true about never finding someone who's just like Bob Barker, but the fact is we don't look for a host to fill his shoes-that's impossible. You succeed him, not replace him, if you know what I'm getting at. Bob's successor will make the show all his own and not even attempt to duplicate Bob himself. Goerge Hamilton isn't game show hosting material, John O'Hurley will be too busy with Family Feud, Mark Steines, as good an anchorman as he is, isn't quite ready to transition to game shows, but Todd Newton, having hosted The Price is Right: Live at Bally's in Las Vegas, attending tapings of the show at the Bob Barker Studios and taking notes(a.k.a. the living textbook), is more than ready to take the reigns of The Price is Right. Todd hosting the Las Vegas live show, may have been merely a warmup for this real possibility(I got this info from page 4 of the GSN Message Boards Thread, "Is Todd Newton the next Bob Barker?). I still have a real strong feeling that this fall, we could be taking about Todd Newton and Rich Fields as the host/announcer combo on The Price is Right. My strong feeling about this means little if Fremantle doesn't confirm it, but don't be surprised if they do.

If anyone wants a sneak peek at Bobs finale watch ET tonight, they (like most media outlets) had great access to the show as it taped yesterday. From what I hear though they were the only ones who had backstage access.

Speaking of the show, I have been watching all the media coverage in the last 24 hrs & I think it will be a treasure for true price is right fans, however I do not think the finale will be a solomon approved show.

not yet... I heard the other day from my friend@ cbs that they were very close to making an announcement, now I am hearing that it may be a little while. ALL i know is they have a deadline for production to begin so that season 36 starts on time in September. They have a ton of issues to work out before production can begin on season 36 & finding a new host is just one of them!!!

I can't wait to see the last "Price Is Right" with Bob Barker next week. I'm gonna miss him. Bob Barker is still the best. I used to watch it since I was a kid, but I would love to see the last show after 35 years. I found this video from YouTube is pictures from the final taping of "The Price Is Right", the link will not appear until next week. It's from Wildchats, big "Price Is Right" fan, I hope I will not going to get spoilers. Will see.

I am positive that it will be the highest rated show the morning has ever seen -- I wouldn't be surprised if it gets well over 10 million viewers in the morning, and over 15 million in primetime, if more. With school out for the summer by then, and workers on vacation, why wouldn't it be?

I feel sorry for The View this Friday!

I wouldn't feel sorry for The View-all the controversies about that show are already getting old, anyhow. Bob Barker's grand finale on The Price is Right, will be televised again Friday night at 8 p.m., EDT. At that time, we really should feel sorry for both Bob Saget and Tom Bergeron, because TPIR will bury both 1 vs. 100 and America's Funniest Home Videos in the 8:00 time slot, this coming Friday.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble here, but I use to work at CBS Television City in the eary 1990s where TPIR is taped. Barker was not a nice man at all. The act on television....well, that is exactly what it is....an act. He is arrogant and treats people like they are worthless and stupid.

He complained about everything, he was rude to the CBS pages (the people who handled the audiences for the show). Not a nice man, folks, but then again, very few in Hollywood are anything other than jerks.

It is also sad that the studio where TPIR is taped, Studio 33, was renamed "The Bob Barker Studio". Carol Burnett, Jack Benny and Red Skelton did their shows in that studio. They are talent....not some smiling jackass with a microphone who makes useless small talk.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. He didn't treat the contestants or models on the show very nice either. In his finals years on the show, it was depressing to watch Barker be so rude to the contestants, and was one of many factors of why the show went so downhill, and it was so depressing that I don't watch it hardly at all anymore. For alot of the contestants, this was a dream come true, they waited most of their lives for this moment, and for some it was the most exciting thing in their lives, but Barker would ruin it by snapping "give me your bid", "give me your bid". He told one contestant who was retired from the Canadian Mounted Police, then he should be referred to as "Dismounted Police". The crowd did not react favorably, and Barker had to backpeddle. And of course we all know what he did to the models, it appears that Barker should be the one that gets spayed or neutered. Goodbye everybody!
