Alice theme songs

The following are the words to each version of the theme song. For the first 6 seasons, there was a new variation, although several had the same lyrics. Where applicable, click on the season number to hear the theme song.

Seasons 1 & 2 (4 variations, the short version was used occasionally during
season 3 when Philip McKeon wasn't on that episode, although
this was after it started airing on CBS daily in the morning,
E! shows two episodes with this version):

Early to rise, early to bed.
In and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head.
Going through life with blinders on, it's tough to see.
I had to get up, get out from under and look for me.
*There's a new girl in town and she's looking good.
*There's a fresh freckled face, in the neighborhoood.
There's a new girl in town, with a brand new style.
She was just passing through,
but if things work out she's gonna stay awhile....ba ba bum bum bummmm
(the two short versions omitted the lines marked with a *)

Seasons 3 & 5 (three variations, 2 of them for season 3):

Used to be sad, used to be shy
Funniest thing, the saddest part is I never knew why...
Kickin' myself for nothin' was my favorite sport
I had to get out and start enjoyin' 'cause life's too short
There's a new girl in town, 'cause I'm feelin good.
Get a smile, get a song, for the neighborhood
there's a new girl in town on her own two feet
and this girl's here to say
with some luck and love life's gonna be
so sweeeeeeeeeet!

Season 4

Used to be sad, used to be shy
Funniest thing, the saddest part is I never knew why...
Kickin' myself for nothin' was my favorite sport
I had to take off and start enjoyin' 'cause life's too short
There's a new girl in town, 'cause I'm feelin good.
Get a smile, get a song, for the neighborhood
Things are great when you stand on your own two feet
and this girl's here to say
with some luck and love life's gonna be
so sweeeeeeeeeet!

Seasons 6-9:
I used to be sad, I used to be shy
Funniest thing, the saddest part is I never knew why...
Kickin' myself for nothin' was my favorite sport
I had to take off, start enjoyin' 'cause life's too short
There's a new girl in town, 'cause I'm feelin good.

I think today's ep was a start of a new ep because the theme sounded a lot different

If you mean the start of a new season, I'm not sure when they originally aired, but The Reporter was a 2nd season episode, at least when it was recorded. It had a 4th season beginning on it though. I'm curious to see if The Bus tonight will also have that opening (it had it on E! and TNN)

TeeVeeCloset stated that THE REPORTER had a new theme to it however, it is listed on various sites as being a SEASON 2 episode. I checked the credits at the end of the show yesterday and it had a year of 1978 on it.

Even more strange...todays (6/5) episode has the newer theme and electronic credits but had a 1977 copyright on it. Were the opening and closing sequence grafted on or recreated for some of these?

TV.com lists it as the airdate not being verified. I wonder if perhaps they got preempted and reaired during the 4th season. They were definitely 2nd season episodes though, it's got the wallpaper that was only used on the 2nd season (3rd season and on, it's got more of a cowboy motif look to it)

That was the only time I was really looking at the episode, was when I was looking at the motif, decorations, etc. to see what was different or not, because like I stated on the other thread, the production code for THE REPORTER is 16663...that belongs in season one sequence, not season 2.

it's actually 166663 (you missed a 6 :) ). Anyway, it is in the 2nd season number range. The 1st season ends at 166573. 2nd season is in the 166661-166684 range.

The Bus did have odd credits. It had the style used on the 4th season, but still had the 2nd season closing theme. Also, had them scrolling, rather than showing a few per screen, stopped. Also only had one photo still, rather than showing several from the show during the credits

Thanx for catching that. Typing more than 3 sixes scares me.

Wow, thanx for that information. It is really an oddball episode, along with those two others.
