Hi All, just a bit of an update on the search for the new Price is right host. I have it on very good authority from a friend at Cbs that there will be 2-4 more auditions to be held on June 8th. It appears that John Tesh will be one of the people getting an audition. I was also told that Tesh Agreed to do the audition but apparently is now having second thoughts. Kind of suprising to me that he would get an audition, prooves yet again that they really have not been blown away by anyone to this point. I will post more info as I get it but with Bob Taping his last show this coming Wed, cbs & fremantle better pick up the pace on the host search.

I don't like the John Tesh choice. He has such a wooden personality.

I wouldn't worry about it much, he may be backing out of it anyway because of a personal conflict. I have an idea who the other people are but I don't have it confirmed yet so I am not going to say anything just yet. TICK TICK TICK until Bobs last show tapes!!!!!

You and I both know that Rosie O'Donnell is getting a tryout. This is her "dream job."

Not neccessarily, it all depends on the choice of host.

In an interesting development I have been exchanging emails with my friend at CBS & he informed me that the auditions that were scheduled for next Friday have been as he put it " scratched because of a development" I am not sure what that development is at this point but I will try & find out, and another interesting note, all thru this process of searching for a new host I would always ask him this question at the end of every email or conversation: Do we have a new host yet? He has always responded with a no, but this time, he did not respond to that at all. Am I looking into this too much?? Maybe but with the sudden cancellation of next weeks auditions, is that white smoke coming from the roof of cbs television city? Do we have a new host?? Again nothing is confirmed, I will post any news I get!!!

I don't know about wooden personality, but John Tesh isn't game show hosting material.

If that is the case, then it has to be someone who already auditioned. We know of Todd Newton, George Hamilton and Mario Lopez. Forget about Lopez, because his show was picked up by the CW. My guess is Hamilton, but I hope I am wrong.

I hope you're wrong, too, Brian, because George Hamilton isn't game show hosting material. Lopez is out of the running, so that leaves, and it has got to be, Todd Newton. Of those guys you've mentioned, he's clearly the most qualified to suceed Bob Barker as host of The Price is Right. I really don't see anyone else other than Todd Newton taking the reigns from Bob.

I'd have to disagree. Todd Newton seems to "stuck-up" as a host. He tries to be funny but isn't, and would hurt The Price is Right more than anyone.

I agree with Solomon, though. The Price is Right needs to end after Bob's last show. It's a desgrace to the audience by not ending it.

I disagree with both of you! Todd Newton is still the most qualified to succeed Bob Barker. He hosts TPIR Live in Las Vegas and has also attended tapings of the show. Who do you exactly have in mind, anyway? Because as far as I'm concerned, no one else is more qualified to succeed Bob Barker than Todd Newton.

We won't know who is qualified until The New season starts and THAT person comes out as the New Host

Like I've said before, as long as Todd hosts TPiR like he hosted Hollywood Showdown, and doesn't act obnoxious and loud like he did on Whammy!, I will have no problem with him taking over.

Could be, all though they have done " special after show tapings " a few days last week, not sure who was the " auditioner" (is that a word)..lol but there is definitly something brewing out @ beverly & fairfax.

Analyzer, that is one of the funniest things I've ever read on this site. What makes it so funny is that Dynomite has told us 15 times in the last 2 weeks about how great this Todd Newton supposedly is. An awesome, and perhaps unintentional jab. Did you know that Todd Newton has hosted the Price is Right in Las Vegas and has attended tapings of the Price is Right?

P.S. your avatars rock!

What about my avatar do you like?

John Tesh?? Watching him is like watching paint dry. I heard John O'Hurley (Family Feud, Seinfeld) is the most likely candidate.

Frankly, I think they should just pull the show anyway.

Not likely-John O'Hurley will be too busy, hosting Family Feud to host another game show. Forget about John Tesh-he isn't remotely interested in hosting game shows. It's got to be Todd Newton-he's the most qualified to take the reigns, hosting The Price is Right.

Speculation of Steve Beverly, ringleader of tvgameshows.net goes something like this: he thinks that George Hamilton is the most likely successor of Bob. But let's face it... NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY can replace Mr. Barker, or come anywhere near the level of expertise of hosting the show that Bob had.

As I've stated before, I have no one in mind. No one will come even close to succeeding Bob Barker, therefore, it should end on a good note, after Bob's final show. Let it put out it's own misery instead of going on with it.

I give it one more season with a new host.

That isn't likely to happen, either. Fremantle needs to quit dragging its feet. Bob Barker's successor needs to be someone who knows what he's doing, has knowledge of the show, has hosted TPIR Live, attended tapings of the show and has taken notes on the show, and it clearly Todd Newton. Steve Beverly needs to get a clue, because George Hamilton is not game show hosting material. I don't mind Bob filling in until his successor is named, but time is running real short and the show's fans are growing impatient. CBS has already declared TPIR will go on, but the network and Fremantle need to understand Bob Barker's successor is capable enough to host the show his way and not try to be Bob, and that's Todd Newton. Bob will be succeeded, but never replaced, so they need to fully understand they need to let the next host in line host the show his way and not expect way too much from him. They'll never know unless they give the next host in line a chance to make TPIR all his own.
