It is very rare, there just aren't many stations that play country. It was more disco or rock and roll.

Plus, maybe Tommy saw some of the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies with Jerry in 'em, and Tommy does seem like the type of 13 year-old boy who would find "When Your'e Hot You're Hot" hilarious, LOL.

Hey Brian, another thought---"Bandit" came out in '77, and Alice and Tommy "broke down" in Phoenix in '76. So maybe bein' out west in Phoenix he was exposed to country music including Jerry Reed. So he could have become a fan, and got all excited when "Bandit" came out and got to see it there in Phoenix...and suddenly I realize I'm writing more fan-fiction about "Alice" than I should. LOL!

I wasn't a fan of country music, but he was well-known in the movies and hanging with Burt Reynolds and so forth. It's all abt who is popular at the moment, and Jerry Reed was just that, popular.

He had two very popular songs which are vastly different from each other. "The Streak"...a funny song; and "Everything is beautiful" a song that I remember in a commercial, but can't remember which one.

On the subject of guest stars, I was 20 yrs old in 1998 and saw a 227 rerun. The studio audience goes crazy when Marvin Haggler comes in the door, but those watching with me had to tell me who he was.
